Cutetropolis is brought to you today by Bed Head for Birds, the grooming product that gives flat, ordinary feathers that “just rolled out of the nest” look chicks love.

That’s a *good* feather day. He’s just into punk rock.
Darnit, I was gonna say that. (Or, well, something similar, anyway.)
…and that’s why we don’t eat from food carts, kids!
In fairness, it was a bird food cart. Still good advice tho…
I would like to stroke birdee’s fringe. Hey Mike, how is Shorty recovering?
Shorty is doing great. He woke up the day after surgery feeling hungry and after a big meal he just went outside and got on with his life. Not showing any signs of discomfort or complications. He still loves me and cuddles in my lap every day.
Oh fantastic! Give him a eye smile and chin scritch for me!
Great that he didn’t hold it against you.
You did a good thing, Mike, and Shorty knows a good guy when he meets one!
He looks like he’s about to audition as a new Muppet.
Love the spikes and the ‘tude!
I LOVE that bird – yea, a little punster. And great news about Shorty – he doesn’t hold a grudge.
Kinda looks like me first thing in the morning.
i needed closure: this looks like a guira cuckoo.
Yep. Guira cuckoo. I once watched two at the Natl Zoo in Washington DC – one had a mouse to eat, the other one wanted it; the first one knew that if he dropped the mouse so he could eat it, the other one would grab it, so they kept going around in circles, the mouseless one in rather polite but persistent pursuit of the mouseful one. I had to give up after 15 mins and go see the other birds.
“mouseful one” 😀
Mousefull eventually.
😛
What? I missed something! (Besides seeing this adorable bird in person, obviously). Who’s Shorty?
Shorty is a kitty who adopted Mike and Ani. I believe there’s a picture in Saturday’s open thread.
Yep, Shorty is a mostly black tuxedo cat with tiny white mittens on front paws and white socks in back. He came up to me one day and started to get all cuddly, so I’ve been feeding him and welcoming him into my house. Here he is on the day before I took him to be neutered.
