A Hot Night at Maru’s Place

It’s a warm summer evening, and Maru and Hana are too tired to do anything but make speech balloons. Maru is so hot he imitates a ghost. At least that’s what it says.

Another sweltering submission from.Andrew Y.

At first I thought it said something about he ate something – he sure looks like he just ate – a LOT!

I’d like to dive head first into that belly!

When you’re an Internet star, you don’t bother with the modesty tail.

If Maru were a person, he’d be that plumber whose workpants always show a buttcrack.

      Hee, hee.

    • debg August 12, 2017 / 12:29 pm

      You’re right on both counts.

      Send out for buttspackle.

      • Murray C August 13, 2017 / 10:29 pm

Wouldn’t that make a great character name “Ah, Mr. Buttspackle, I see you’re wearing your pants at half mast, sir.”

??? But it looks good on Maru!!

It’s so hot even the World Cow is about to paddle in a blue plastic bowl.

  4. allein ? August 12, 2017 / 11:29 am

I was wondering why there was a bucket under World Cow’s back end…

Also, is Maru’s butt talking to us?

    • Murray C August 12, 2017 / 11:54 am

I wondered the same, Allein – housebreaking???? I’m going to have to watch again to understand your other comment!

      • allein ? August 12, 2017 / 11:58 am

Watch the placement of the speech bubble (I think it’s the one that says “too hot”).

        • Murray C August 12, 2017 / 12:03 pm

          ???

Are you familiar with Josef Pujol, Le Petomane, (sp?) the famous French Farter who drew more people to the Moulin Rouge than Sarah Bernhardt? His name was also on the Mayor’s office door in Blazing Saddles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Pétomane

          • allein ? August 12, 2017 / 12:05 pm

Only in that I’ve heard of him, and I’ve seen Blazing Saddles.

When I was cat sitting for my friend I raided his DVD collection. I took 4 Monty Python movies (and about a dozen others), but I was rather disappointed (and, frankly, surprised) that he didn’t have any Mel Brooks.

(I should probably start watching some of them.)

I had the same thought, Allein! That’s when I started giggling hysterically.

Yup, Maru is totally talking out his butt. He could go into politics.

When Maru says he imitates the ghost, the bottom of his left hind foot looks like a ghost from Pacman.

      Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and… Stinky?

          I know, but…feet!

Poor sweeties! I hate hot weather too. Fortunately, it’s a dry heat in Colorado, and the days in the 90s seem to have ended.

  7. Dulcie August 12, 2017 / 12:36 pm

I am thinking that the actual translation might mean “imitating the dead” rather than ghost. And you might think Maru is doing a pretty good job of it but that tail tip is doing the tiniest wag…

  8. Smartypants August 12, 2017 / 2:39 pm

From the comments on their Youtube channel, I gather that ‘imitating a ghost’ refers to Japanese folklore – apparently if you do an image search for ‘ukiyo-e ghost’ there’s a resemblance (I’ve been too lazy to actually do it yet…).

Also, I knew The Circle was talented, but who knew he could speak out of both ends…?

    • Faye August 12, 2017 / 3:10 pm

Ha! Some politicians that do it all the time.

      • Laura August 12, 2017 / 4:50 pm

Except for the ones who almost never say what they mean out of their mouth, but their other end is FAR more accurate. Sigh…

Maru and Hana are clearly flattened as much as possible in order to have maximum air reaching their skin through the floof.

      • Clairdelune August 14, 2017 / 7:06 am

        EVERY DAY, nowadays… 🙁

  9. Clairdelune August 14, 2017 / 7:04 am

Poor Maru, I sympathize with his need to cool off his furry bottom, and the heck with the modesty tail!! There were a few HOT summer nights in Japan when I also felt like doing the ghost . ??????
