Eight Arms to Hold You

You drifted into my arms like a vision from a dream, soft and fuzzy with beady eyes full of secrets and mischief. Then as mysteriously as you appeared, you were gone. I will always cherish the moments we had, but sometimes the loss is more than I can bear.

Mike, I’m torn between snortlaffing at your intro, delighting in the beauty of the octopus, and wondering how on earth someone made this video.

Octopus hugs have a lot of bang for the buck. Unless the octopus was trying to eat the teddy, that’s a whole lotta love.

“Octopus hugs have a lot of bang for the buck.” ๐Ÿ˜€ That was one weird video and I feel bad for Octopus as I think it thought teddy was a big, yummy shrimp… alas no. I do love the tentacles though!

I love that the piece was called “Sad Piano” – I felt sad for the poor little bear all alone on the beach – and smiling all the while. Lovely octopussy – one tentacle looked to have been lopped off! Didn’t seem to bother him/her, tho’.

At first I though, I hope that’s not a teddy bear that a kid forgot on the beach and then I sympathized with the poor bear, I’ve had dates with “octopuses” in my younger days.

Also maybe I’m slow but I had to watch it a few times to figure out how they did the bear floating away at the end , nice bit of trick photography.

I hope Teddy is water proof. Nothing worst than a soggy bear.

      How about TWO soggy bears?

I read the book mentioned in the linked article – “Other Minds,” largely about octopuses. Highly recommended. They’re very interesting creatures, as are giant squid and other such creatures discussed in the book.

I cried. How cruel, to deprive an octopus of its teddy bear? Makes me want to go out and distribute stuffies on beaches everywhere.

I still have my teddy bear. He still has a job. We can still pay our bills. We still love each other. I am sad, but we’re okay right now. Thank you, everyone, for the outpouring of love and support yesterday. Time to get back up and keep going.

Hi Duckie! It looks like the ending of the video was done with reverse photography, so it’s possible that the octopus got to keep the teddy bear after all.

But I like your unique take on the classic message in a bottle. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m very glad that you know that you’ll be ok.

We’ve all had those moments, veering between the comforting “they still give out government cheese, right?” and “OMIGOD I NEED A CARDBOARD BOX FOR THE SIDEWALK!!” panic.

      It will get better.

    What Faye said! Y-a-a-a-a-a-a-ay!

And as someone once said “No doesn’t mean Never”!
