“Look, you bang the nut with the rock like this! Don’t just tap it, put your weight into it! Look, you’re never going to make it out there if you can’t master tool use. Honestly, how you people managed to evolve is beyond me.”

I wonder that myself, Madame X.
Monkey doesn’t look he’s got much weight to put into it himself…he seems very insistent, though. I will gladly take lessons from him.
You know he’s thinking,
Yeah, You’re Evolved, sure. Keep thinking that.
The tool isn’t the rock. The tool is the one holding the rock.
Yes, I had the same thought – sort of double tool use. Smart little monk.
Smart.
Human see. Human do. ??
A thousand up-votes!
I don’t know how old little monkey is, but this reminds me very strongly of the way tiny hoomin toddlers engage with (so-called) grown-ups in certain kinds of play.
Monkey finishes with, ‘Damn-it, the previous five tourists learned this in no-time and if you can’t lady at least bring a bag of shelled nuts.’
I’m adding another thousand upvotes to Ricky’s Mom’s initial thousand!
We definitely need to be able to up vote more than once.
YES!!!
Well, unlike little monkey, we have words. We can use ’em. Part of the fun of this place, after all. Especially NTMTOM’s words.
NTMTOM has the best words.
YES!!!
Better words than the pres.!
I’d love it if the lady would take the monkey through the making and use of a rudimentary nutcracker. His little mind would be blown.
There’s an old story about a scientist testing a monkey’s intelligence by hanging a banana high in the middle of the room and placing enough objects in the room so that the monkey could build a tool to get the banana. So they let the monkey in the room with the scientist watching from a corner. The monkey looks at the stuff, looks at the scientist, takes the scientist’s hand and pulls him to the middle of the room, then climbs the scientist to get the banana.
