Panda on the Lam?

At first, Jasper welcomed his new roommate without reservations, finding him agreeable and inoffensive. Within days, however, the new lodger began to exhibit odd behavior: For example, his tendency to become startled by large rocks. But it was his obsession with news reports about the red panda recently escaped from the zoo that aroused Jasper’s suspicions the most…

“Who’s at the door? It’s not the zookeeper, is it?!”

Wow, that is an interesting color palette. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that on a cat before.

    OMG. Ded.

Need proof this is not Photoshop. Please send kitten to me, and I will carefully monitor coat color over next year of shedding, and allow a team of cute-verifiers to join my testing to confirm natural coat color.

I am a cute verifier grade 3. At your service.

I think there was some kind of cross “pollination” involved here.

New browser: Fire Kitty. Beta version.

Can I help? Can I help? Does that “kitty” have extra toesies!?

        • Faye October 5, 2017 / 12:04 pm

I think those are pure bread pudge footsies.

As soon as I get the kitten, we’ll start arranging for a group verification visit, with guaranteed snorgling.

“Red panda? Never heard of it. I’m a cat, just like you. Meow.”

  5. dubravkamcvmd October 5, 2017 / 12:23 pm

The red panda startled by the large rock caused me to cry out Oh No! NOT POSSIBLE! It was the reaction I had the first time I saw a red panda. I found it very difficult to believe that such a creature, who seemed designed to pack the maximum amount of cuteness into the smallest possible space, was real. As to this “cat,” I volunteer to help Diane in Los Angeles with some rigorous testing.

Look for red panda startled by zookeeper– that is a classic. Also this other type of panda one- https://youtu.be/5nqQY_dMAro

Thanks! I’d seen those both before but a pleasure to see them again. The panda Mom is so endearing it’s almost painful.

Aaaaaah! I never saw the baby panda sneeze one before! SO adorable! (And awfully funny.)

          • Faye October 5, 2017 / 10:46 pm

The Sneeeeze! I get stuck watching over and over.

      • Dana October 5, 2017 / 5:11 pm

So funny! One of my fav videos of all time is this one that Mike posted several months ago. Lethal doses of cute.

        • dubravkamcvmd October 5, 2017 / 5:37 pm

It’s possible that the laws of physics preclude the existence of greater cuteness that that exhibited by red pandas. I think it’s math.

          • Faye October 5, 2017 / 5:48 pm

Yes. That’s it. To insure our safety. Close call in this video. The butt pats at the end almost upset the calculated safety valves.

            • Murray C October 5, 2017 / 8:45 pm

Wasn’t that the best? The keeper just couldn’t resist.

        • Smartypants October 5, 2017 / 7:56 pm

How did I miss this! Thanks for reposting it.

Their tails are like wooly bear caterpillars.

        • Murray C October 5, 2017 / 8:42 pm

Oh, be still my heart – the stumbling, the floofy tails and wiggly butts, the cheek parentheses…..ded.

And, Smartypants, YES they do look like wooly bear caterpillars!

          • Duckie ? October 5, 2017 / 11:11 pm

Their legs remind me of munchkin cats.

  6. Elaine C Williamson October 5, 2017 / 12:42 pm

I have seen that kitten before but still cannot get over its bizarre coat pattern.

  7. Duckie ? October 5, 2017 / 3:49 pm

Kitty has such an adorable face.
I saw another unusually coloured cat today. Siamese/orange tabby cross. Very unique, and very gorgeous. Siamese shaped body, but the “points” were all orange tabby.

Update: Grampa is no longer able to walk, and is bedridden or pushed in a wheelchair. His breathing is bad, and he is on oxygen all the time. But his spirits are still up, and he’s still sharp as a tack. He has delusions, though, that Gramma, who passed away twelve years ago, is sharing his bed. We are not allowed to sit on the bed in case we wake her. ☺️ We are all okay, and praying for a peaceful passing.

    • Murray C October 5, 2017 / 4:40 pm

Awww, Duckie – what a sweet delusion for him to have! What a comfort it must be for him. Rest easy, Grampa – rest easy Duckie and family.

      • Faye October 5, 2017 / 5:51 pm

Well said Murray. A comforting delusion indeed. Whose to say she’s not there right beside him.

Duckie I am thinking of you.

        • Ricky's Mom October 5, 2017 / 6:32 pm

I can say nothing better than what Murray and Faye said, Duckie. Please know that I sincerely share their sentiments, and wish your Grampa a peaceful passing when he’s ready to go. I’m sure he will carry with him the sweet knowledge and memory of your love, and will leave you his.

          Hang in there.

It seems wonderful to me that he’s with his wife.
