    I believe you.

The cake crumbs on my face in no way infer, indicate or in any way imply that I had anything to do with the ravishing of this cake! (thinks: yeah, those night-school law courses are coming in handy now).

Clearly the Cake Elves threw those crumbs in his face in an attempt to blind him so they could get away. (Their aim was just, um, a little low…)

      • Faye October 16, 2017 / 1:35 pm

Maybe the dog pushed cat’s face in the cake and ran?

        • allein ? October 16, 2017 / 2:28 pm

No, it was elves! Can you not read?!?!

  3. Faye October 16, 2017 / 1:34 pm

Hey! I was gonna β€œprotect” that! Faye gets a spoon and begins to eat from the bottom.

Cats have varied tastes,Some like potato chips, this one has a more refined palette.
Looks like it would have been delicious.

    • Catwhisperer October 16, 2017 / 1:55 pm

Would have been? See Faye’s comment, above. πŸ™‚

      • Faye October 16, 2017 / 8:37 pm

        Very good, licks spoon.

    • allein ? October 16, 2017 / 2:30 pm

Stars likes potato chips. I doubt she’d eat cake.

I love the one flap down in case of trouble.

    • Murray C October 16, 2017 / 6:27 pm

YES – this cat is a bit of a street savvy petty criminal-type!

I do love the monochromatic color sensibility of the photo – fabulous.

  6. Kar October 16, 2017 / 2:19 pm

Cats. No sense of shame or guilt

  7. Caz October 16, 2017 / 2:23 pm

    When cakes attack!

    • Duckie ? October 16, 2017 / 7:50 pm

Thank you, Caz! Poor kitty, everyone is blaming him. Obviously he’s innocent. The cake threw itself at the cat. It’s a setup. A smear campaign, if you will.
Don’t worry, kitty, I believe you.

      • Caz October 16, 2017 / 8:38 pm

That’s exactly it, a smear campaign! LOL

    • Faye October 16, 2017 / 8:35 pm

      Lol.

  8. Emsthemonster October 16, 2017 / 2:26 pm

Poor kitty just wanted to take a closer look when out of a sudden the cake also got curious!
Looking at his sweet round face this may not be the first cake to be inspected.

    • Smartypants October 16, 2017 / 5:29 pm

He’d protest his innocence, but he can’t talk with his mouth full πŸ˜€

My moms cat doesn’t care for human food. Depends on what they are used to I guess πŸ™‚

    • Juno October 17, 2017 / 10:05 am

Yep, I had one like that. I always said she reacted to being offered people food the way we’d react to be offered cat food. “Gross!”

      • Murray C October 17, 2017 / 11:01 am

It’s like what rabbits do when they sniff your hand – they turn away in disgust and I think I can hear them say “Phew – meat eater!”

  10. Emsthemonster October 16, 2017 / 3:26 pm

The ad on the top right corner says I should start saving up for my funeral. And I am slightly annoyed when facebook bombards me with decor cosmetics ads. Well it can always be worse πŸ™‚

    • Kar October 16, 2017 / 5:14 pm

No what’s creepy is that now you can use comparison sites for planning your funeral.

Like the deceased are going to log on and complain about satin linings or other facets of funerary arts.

      • -J October 16, 2017 / 11:55 pm

I would *love* to read those yelp reviews, though. . . . .

        • Faye October 17, 2017 / 6:27 am

          Haha!

      • Smartypants October 17, 2017 / 5:32 pm

“The decor was so tacky, I thought I’d just die!” πŸ˜€

      • Murray C October 17, 2017 / 8:11 pm

Nothing new under the sun – there was a radio ad – that should pretty well date it – probably the ’40’s? ’50’s?

Chambers caskets are so fine, made of sandalwood and pine….. (some more lines I don’t remember)
Chambers clients always sing, “Death, O, Death, where is they sting?”

    • Smartypants October 16, 2017 / 5:28 pm

The ad currently irking me is “Want to fly with your pet for free?” by having them certified as a service animal – the implication is, falsely. Right up there with folks who park in a Handicapped spot.

      • Ricky's Mom October 16, 2017 / 5:42 pm

THANK YOU! I do not have a service dog. Ricky is my emotional support, for sure, but he is not an “official” Emotional Support Dog, still less is he a trained Service Dog, and I would *never* pretend he was. People who abuse the system make me mad. Just because I don’t need a service animal doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate their importance. And I’m sure that goes for everyone here.

But this is just the opening I needed to pass this on. It arrived in my inbox today, and I debated with myself about sharing it, but since you’ve presented the perfect opportunity:

        http://www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-and-analysis/blogs/stateline/2017/10/16/tightening-the-leash-on-fake-service-dogs?utm_campaign=2017-10-16+Stateline+Daily&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Pew

On the flip side of the equation, there is no rational reason for banning dogs from restaurants or stores just because they (that is, the establishments) sell food. You can’t claim it’s a health regulation (as New York does) and then let people with their filthy shoes walk all over the store, KWIM? I play nice, but I do resent it. It’s clearly not a genuine health issue, or no community in the “civilized” world would permit dogs in restaurants, yet many do. I can understand asking people whose pets misbehave not to return with the pet, but Ricky is held in my arms or carried in a bag, and has far less impact on my local stores (most of which permit animals, bless them) than the people wandering around, some of whom are not all that savory, really.

Nevertheless, I don’t push it in the stores. If they ask me to me take my dog out, out we go. (So far nobody has, except CVS. So much for today’s neighborhood drugstore.) And if he starts barking, I don’t need to be asked to take him out; I take him out anyway. I love him, but that doesn’t mean I think he’s perfect. If he’s being a nuisance, I remove him from the scene.

Thank you for putting up with this little rantetto.

        • Murray C October 16, 2017 / 6:32 pm

I just read something in our local paper about a crack-down on people who claim “service” status for their animals.

On the subject of funeral arrangements, we got the MOST amazing postcard ad for a funeral home, using the concept of making sure your wishes for your burial are followed. It has a picture of an older woman in a garish hat and it says something like “Remember when you said you never wanted to be caught dead in that dress?”

        • Smartypants October 16, 2017 / 7:25 pm

Yes, a few times lately – I don’t recall the company’s name, but if it comes up again I’ll get all the info for you.

(adding) Ricky’s Mom, that Pew Trust article is fascinating! Thanks for the link.
