Visitors at Blijdorp Zoo, The Netherlands witnessed an amazing animal rescue. A poor duckling had fallen into a pool and was frantically flapping to get out. As mama duck watched helplessly from the sidelines, a pair of helpful hippos took an interest and helped their guest get the duck outta there.
Are those juvenile hippos? So sweet.
Poor duckling, those guys probably had teeth the size of that duckling. So glad that they helped this little one.
Or maybe pygmy hippos?
I’m amazed at their dexterity – it’s like picking up a marshmallow with a forklift!
Blorp Boost. The Blorps were sweet. They could have accidentally snorfed duckie up a nostril!
That would have resulted in quite a sneeze.
and introduction to flight early!
That made me giggle.
Speechless from sweetness.
I love how quickly the little quacker ran back to mom once he was free.
‘Cause he had to tell all the other ducklings about his grand adventure
Muuuuuum, muuuuuu, you won’t believe what happened! An, an, an, this giant lifted me and I was free!
Like Dennis Creevey falling into the lake at Hogwarts and getting lifted out by the giant squid.
Hippo gardian angel to the rescue!
OMG! That’s so cute. Did you draw that?
Very squee-worthy – so darling.
Iโve said it before and Iโll say it again: most animals are better human beings than most humans could ever hope to be. Needed to see some kindness today. Iโve felt a lot like that duckling these past few months. Only the hippos donโt seem to care. ๐
Aw, thanks ๐

Hope things are on an upswing soon, Blakeney!
They are better today – thanks for your kind wishes! ๐
Even when knowing that the video was going to have a good outcome, it still made me nervous!!!!
When I started reading the post, I thought Blijdorp was one of Mike’s made-up words.
You are not the only one.
No, you are not.
Yes, it totally sounds natural that blorps would live in Blijdorp – perfect!
Are they Blijdorpblorps then?
