I saw that video of the man saving the rabbit going around. Apparently, whoever took the video approached the young man for an interview but he declined. That just makes the story even more heartwarming.

Dogs and cat living together? Mass hysteria has never been so cute.

The man saving the wild rabbit is very touching. We saw that impulse at the WTC on 9/11. Strangers helping each other to escape, sometimes slowing their own escape to help the disabled. Rebecca Solnit has a book about humans response to catastrophe and how it often inspires solidarity and generosity. We really are social animals.

The two dogs and cat are so wonderful together. If they were mine I’d never leave the house.

Go there? No, YOU come here human. LOL!!

P.S. Love the guy saving the wild rabbit.

      Ditto to both!

If that little kitty is so ornery now, just wait till he grows up.

That man was so distressed over the rabbit. What a great guy.

You could say that guy picking up that bunny was a real hare raising experience?

      I’m upset I didn’t think of that first. ^_^

All tge links are, as usual, wonderful! But while I love all the funny and punny comments, my husband’s lifetime friend (they grew up together) and his lovely wife live right in the path of that huge, terrifying Thomas fire. We haven’t been able to get hold of them for a few days, so we’re hoping they’re safely away from the fire. Please send your good thoughts to them and the others facing this awful blaze, as well as all the others!

Will do Laura, I hope your friends are safely away.

Sending out all my positive energy, Laura.

And I’m sending a bunch of good energy for you, too, DebG! Please keep us updated on your job search. I do hope your old employers at least gave you a bit of a nest egg to keep you going in the meantime.

An amusing layoff story — my husband was laid off when we were living in New Orleans. But he’s always been a lucky person, he went out to a local casino and played in a free video poker tournament — and won! It was enough to pay our mortgage, car payment, etc., for the entire four months he was laid off. So my advice: Find a free slot or video poker tournament nearby and enter! 😀 😀

Laura, if I thought my gambling skills were up to snuff, that wouldn’t be a bad idea. But I’ve learned not to trust my luck!

Job search hasn’t really started, partly because I’m still recovering from the appendectomy and partly because it’s worth taking some time to figure out what I want to do. I’ve got at least 20 more years before retirement and need to prioritize. A fun job in a dying industry doesn’t seem like a good bet anymore!

Nest egg from the former employers was more like a single square wombat poop. Word has it, they laid off about 60 people across the 800-person company.

Thank you SO much for thinking of me when you’re so worried about your friends.

Oh, Laura, that’s terrible – during the Santa Rosa fires I couldn’t reach my brother and his wife for a few days so I know how you feel! And these fires seem to be even faster burning – so awful! I hope you reach them soon.

The fellow saving the rabbit has me in buckets of tears – lovely story – a good soul.

And the little tapping cat is so attentive – and obdurate, to be sure.

And that yarn-bombing was something I could get behind – they were really cute.

Overwhelming links today, Mike. Hope the wild bunny has a long life ahead of it, after that gallant rescue.

Yarnbombing to raise money for a charity–fantastic. Those mailbox toppers are delightful, and they would have taken a long time to make. Kudos to the secret crafters.

Holding out hope for the smaller anteater twin. I lived in Santa Barbara for 5 years and spent many happy hours at the zoo (it was about the only thing I could afford to do!). If I were still there, I’d be pestering the keepers for news about the babies.

The goldens and their cat friend made me so happy. Gorgeous photos of the mass napp hysteria.

DEBG – wait a minute – I thought you still had a job but Laura’s post indicates otherwise! I must’ve missed something somewhere!? What gives? Are you OK?

      • Emsthemonster December 8, 2017 / 3:18 pm

It is among the comments of the wombat post on Wednesday, if you want to read it, Murray.

      • debg December 8, 2017 / 8:41 pm

Got let go on Wednesday. It’s terrifying but I’m trying to stay calm.

Thanks, everybody, for the good thoughts for our friends. I know they’re sensible people (hey, they’re from Minnesnowta, as my husband calls it — 18 years there and he’s tried to live in tropical climates ever since!), and they’re retired, so they can leave easily enough. I’ll update when we get hold of them. I’m sure your good thoughts and energy will tip the balance! 😀
