Due to unforeseen issues on certain versions of Apple Safari, I have disabled secure browsing, which was causing the site to be blocked in some cases. Although many Safari users reported no issues, I can’t tolerate even one reader being blocked.

If this information helps anyone, I just moments ago finished installing the High Sierra OS on my Mac. I had previously been unable to access Cutetropolis on this computer, but now it works fine.
The installation process took me about four hours, so this might be something to save for next weekend if you need to do it.
NTMTOM, I have a record of my chat with Apple support if it would help you. Will be happy to email it.
Thanks, but I found it simpler to roll back the update that caused the issue. A number of Apple users cannot update their systems to get the most recent Safari.
I do hope to get secure browsing again in the future, but from a different vendor and I will ask more questions next time.
One small and relieved voice thanks you for this consideration. When I first couldn’t get the site to work, I thought perhaps the site itself had folded! (Which actually made me feel shaky.) Then common sense prevailed and I was about to try various software updates. SO happy to see Cutetropolis on my Ipad again! ??
Thank you Mike! I was one of those unlucky souls who got shut out. Even Google Chrome wouldn’t connect, which I thought odd. Back to the cute…YAY!
Yes, thank you Mike! I could no longer view on my iPad, just my phone. And, since I don’t have a home computer, my phone just doesn’t always cut it (though it’s great for your brilliant scroll downs). Need bigger screen for the cute!!
Greetings, all. I was one one of those unfortunates who could not get onsite yesterday. I’m so glad to be back.
It was an up and down weekend, mostly because of pain. The best part was last night. I heard a knock on the door. When I went to check, there was a package of homemade cookies outside, with a tag reading “Thank you for being so kind to me and my mommy. Happy Holidays. Love, Charlie”. It was from the cockatiel across the hall from me, the one that makes so many funny sounds.
Quiet but busy week ahead. I have cookies to bake, a few gifts to wrap, and my Christmas vest to finish. Then decorate.
Hubby officially starts his new job this week. He is looking forward to it, mainly because the people he’s working with are decent. His old coworkers…weren’t.
I wish all a belated happy weekend.
?
Duckie, you may be the only person EVER to get cockacookies! So glad you’re okay. Bonne chance to your hubby.
*sigh of relief*
Hulloooo. so relieved to see you…couldn’t access by safari on ipad….so tried firefox app. for apple users firefox engine rocks. so do you
Strange thing, message said not secure site might be pretending to be Cutetropolis.com. I clicked my bookmark and the site loaded. Bizarre. But happy anyway. ?
Now I’m blocked because site isn’t secure. I use mozilla firefox browser.
You must have your security settings on High. Try Medium or a different browser.
There may also be a way to keep your security settings high but to whitelist Cutetropolis, but I don’t know what it is—sorry!
Sadly, no, this problem was not one an end user could fix. It’s a weakness in older versions of Safari, and due to the way Apple does things, it isn’t always possible for some users to get the newest version.
Internet Explorer won’t let me access the site either.
I can only find my way onto the site by googling “Cutetropolis can’t access site december 2017” and then I can find a link to this thread. I can then get into the site, albeit a round about way.
I had that problem on Sunday also (work computer with Firefox). Fine today though.
Still a problem for me. It’s a few days in a row now. Sigh.
Finally got in today, main link, no problem. Not sure why it worked today but I’m glad!
Hooray, thank you! I’ve been blocked from Cutetropolis all weekend and thought the problem was on my end. Looking forward to catching up with the NTMteam! Wow, it’s thin pickings on the rest of th’ Interwebs.
(tech note for Mike, if helpful – I’m on a Mac Mini desktop running an outdated version of Safari).
Mike, this will probably be no help at all, but other than having to re-sign in a second time in order to post a comment, I’ve had no problems. I’m a Mac/Apple loyalist, and currently I use Safari on my laptop, tablet, and phone. I do have the latest operating system on all three, and I’m pretty sure the latest versions of Safari as well.
I’m sorry you and so many of our community have been having problems. If this is a taste of the End of Net Neutrality, I’m even more agin it than I was before. (I know it’s too soon to be that, really.)
This isn’t NN-related at all. I changed the configuration of the site, and some Safari users were blocked. So I changed it back to the way it was.
I understand, Mike. Just my grim humor. Sorry for the distraction!
Mike, thanks for looking out for us! You are the best and that is why you have a loyal following! Can’t access cutetropolis on my mac thru safari but no problems accessing the site from my phone!
As one using an older version of Safari who cannot update on my old laptop, I say a thousand thanks Mike. I thought I had lost Cutetropolis, my refuge and an oasis of sanity. Or maybe that should be insanity. The only site I check every day.
I rarely comment but I do read almost all comments and you and the Cutetropolitan community are a source of cute, wit and wild and wacky humour. All much needed these days. Glad I don’t have to rely on my 2018 calendar for all that. The calendar is terrific by the way. Ani is much cuter than Bronzie.
For me it wasn’t just Safari, but also my RSS app NetNewsWire. It has a built-in browser, and that wouldn’t connect either. Glad to have you back.
Another thank-you, and I’m also glad that Net Neutrality wasn’t the cause of the blackout. Also good to know that I should probably look into Safari updates sooner rather than later. Cute IT, and win-win! Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good kitten.
