This happy little otter
Feels ecstatic in the water
So she claps her little paws

she looks like she’s just won both Showcases on the Price is Right!
:D! Did you see this Fritz? http://mashable.com/2017/09/22/the-price-is-right-most-money-on-wheel-80000/#d2VPLAMyYiqQ
That’s amazing, FKAWaldenPond! Thanks for the link (btw, do you also have TPIR advertisements all over your computer now? – lol!)
N. Fritz, off-topic, did you see my shoe website recommendation yesterday? Cinderella of Boston — sizes 2-5 ONLY, reasonable prices, bunches of styles. It looks perfect for your teensy feet! π
And that TPIR recording is hilarious! When we lived in Lalaland for a few years back in the 90s, my daughter and I used to take turns escorting a friend of hers from high school (who worked for an airline so could fly to LA free) to TPIR. I think we each went at least 6 or 7 times. Finally, while I was out of the country, he made it up onstage and, while he didn’t win the showcase, he won a couple of things, and best of all, got to shake Bob Barker’s hand. I think to this day that was the highlight of his life! π
Yes, Laura, thank you again for the shoe tips! I had a colleague who appeared on Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? He won a cruise on Jeopardy and won another cruise when he was on the cruise ship. He won an Acura on Wheel of Fortune which his wife may still be driving to this day. And he won $32000 on WWTBAM (he missed the $500000 question about Suriname). A fascinating guy! (plus, a student worker in our office won the largest prize ever on Wheel of Fortune at the time – $127,000!)
Laura, Fritz I would LOVE to be on tpir but I am far too camera shy.
I have watched tpir since before Bob Barker. My whole life almost.
Does anyone besides me remember Queen For A Day?
The woman who told the saddest story βwonβ a kitchen.
OMG I remember! An image from the show immediately came to mind. That show was unique at the time but over-the-top drivel is pretty standard now.
And the original Wheel of Fortune with Chuck Woolery, Ruta Lee (?.) And you got to shop for your prizes (I think most people went for the cheetah statue or something equally as kitschy!)
I was actually on Jeopardy, too, back in their tenth year (she admits embarrasedly). Alas, I lost to a five-time champion, but they were still giving away actual prizes in those days, and so I ended up winning a trip to Ireland! (My show aired on St. Patrick’s Day, hence the prize.) But honestly, I didn’t care what I won or not — I just wanted to be on the show and, more importantly, to know Final Jeopardy! (I did.) it was a truly amazingly fun experience, and I urge anybody to try out who thinks they’d be good on the show!
I remember the original Jeopardy, too, Faye, and vaguely remember Queen for a Day; that was a bit before my time, plus we didn’t have a TV until I was 7 years old. But the original Jeopardy was great, plus it was SO cheap! If I remember correctly, the big winner got a set of encyclopedias, right?
Faye, I will look up ‘Queen for a Day’– it may not have been on our programming up in Toronto– we got all our American affiliates through Buffalo. I love tpis as there is no ‘too cool for this guise’ — it is just simply good, goofy, real people fun. And mighty heavens Laura! that is fantastic! What was the final Jeopardy you answered correctly??!! And please, is there a link of the show you are on that I may watch? What I admire most is you are able to answer regardless of the pressure. I may know the answer but have a 30 second delay or so (probably longer in most cases) in mental retrieval. Soooo cool beans Laura, would love to see your brain in action so please share. π
How very cool, Laura! I qualified for Jeopardy! once but I never got called up. And I too would like to know, what was the question you answered correctly???
How very cool, Laura! I am very impressed – and with you, N. Fritz – you qualified! Cool beans on both of you!
Anyone else remember Bob Barker on Truth or Consequences before he did TPIR. I used to love that show.
I do! For some reason, the sharpest memory I have of that show is “Buell the Buzzer,” who I assume was a guy named Buell who sat offstage and pressed a buzzer.
This is all so funny – I remember The Price is Right with Bill Cullen – I think he was the original host. I loved What’s My Line with Bennet Cerf, Kitty Carlisle, John Charles Daley. And I definitely remember Queen for a Day – when I was a kid both parents worked so I spent my summer vacation ironing in front of the tv and watching that and Mickey Mouse Club, Spin and Marty, etc. I hated soaps so I never watched them.
Beat the Clock and Password. I loved Password.
Let’s Make a Deal with Monty Hall!
And I’ve Got a Secret!
How I love the clapping and clutching of the face – yes, accepting adulation but humbly.
Like Sally Field at the Oscars “You like me! Right now, you like me!”
If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands ??
All these cute, adorable, furry babies are hard to watch without being able to touch and cuddle them. Would love to have the job of the person (a woman?) holding the mini-otter’s “hands”. In college, I should have signed up for a degree in veterinary medicine!! As long as I did not have to deal with snakes, however.
I have a friend who was a volunteer cuddler at the zoo – she got to hold all sorts of baby animals. I wish I’d known about that!
