I want to see a copy of that Pilot’s license .. hehe

Hey, why not? I have a friend whose dog is a member of the newspaper columnists group — he’s got his own paid-up membership card, and has published *and* been paid for several articles! (I think we know he had help writing them….but they’re under his byline!) He’s also just about the most photogenic dog I have EVER met. I keep trying to get her to join us here, but no luck so far.

That giant cat is, well, I think GIANT is the only word for him! He’s gorgeous, though! He weighs the same amount as our cocker spaniel, for comparison purposes, which is downright frightening — plus Sebastian needs to go on a diet, but I don’t think Ludo does!

I wondered the same thing and Googled. This article has a photo of the dog’s license. It’s honorary (thank goodness!) and from Aircraft Owners and Pilots’ Association (a non-profit organization, not the government), but it’s got the dog’s photo on it.

Sorry to nuff, but cute as it looks at first glance, giving out puppies as prizes seems really irresponsible and possibly cruel to the pups. I want to know where they came from and what happened to them afterwards.

    • Murray C January 31, 2018 / 9:36 am

When I first heard about that I was dubious, too – I don’t think they were meant to be kept by the folks – although there may have been some prearrangement. But having puppies in that circumstance doesn’t seem like a good idea for the pups.

We’re talking about an event full of charismatic and influential people who have more twitter followers than I have red blood cells. I feel like if something cruel or dangerous were up we’d have heard about it.

    • Brouhaha January 31, 2018 / 9:45 am

I’m pretty certain it was simply a stunt. I don’t think anyone given a puppy actually left with a puppy.

So far, no word on where they came from or where they went after the show though.

You’d think they’d borrow them from a shelter and use the opportunity to encourage adoption or something like that. Seems odd that they don’t mention it anywhere.

I spent the day yesterday trying (with no success) to get my cat T-Two to eat something, because the vet said with antibiotics he has to eat or it can hurt his stomach. So last night when my husband came home we gave him his medication and we forced fed him some cat food in a syringe.

This morning he came and gave his food a few licks, which is more than he did yesterday (Yay!!) but didn’t really eat so we had to use the syringe again since we had to give him his medicine. Maybe I should try french fries?

    • Brouhaha January 31, 2018 / 9:46 am

My cat will only lick the salt off french fries. Glad your kitty is on the mend!

    • Emsthemonster January 31, 2018 / 10:46 am

Keeping my fingers crossed for T-Two. What a great name for a cat, btw.

      • Gigi The cat lady January 31, 2018 / 10:56 am

Thanks, he’s called that because I found an abandoned kitten a long time ago and since it was July 21st, I called him T-One for twenty one.. Fast forward to 12 years ago we went to a shelter and there in a cage was the exact copy of my late cat T-One so we called him T-Two, but we mostly just say T.

        • fkaWaldenPond January 31, 2018 / 2:21 pm

Can you feed him tuna? Ol’ flappy lips isn’t eating much these days but if I were to open a can of tuna he would eat it all. The problem is tuna ph contributes to urine crystals which will lead to blockage. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another!
Regardless, I am sending strong good vibes hoping T will rally. 🙂

Oh, GiGi, I’m sorry you’re having fur baby issues! Have you tried pumpkin or baby food? That might be easier going down if Puss isn’t up to eating too much. Also, easier to syringe if need be.

    • Ricky's Mom January 31, 2018 / 12:58 pm

Holding a good thought for T-Two and his hoomin family!

    • AB January 31, 2018 / 7:34 pm

Don’t know if you can get them in your area, but my old wreck of a cat will eat Lickable Treats bisque. She also eats Tiki Cat velvet mousse and the Soulistic bisque-type foods from Petco. It’s been a struggle finding something she’ll eat, so I’m excited that I’ve found a few things that work!

      • Gigi The cat lady January 31, 2018 / 9:13 pm

Thanks I looked and they seem to have them at Walmart, I’ll pick some up tomorrow, at this point I’ll try anything.

    • debg January 31, 2018 / 9:29 pm

Poor sweetie. Sending more good vibes your way, Gigi.

    I need a consolation puppy…

  5. birdlady26 January 31, 2018 / 10:26 am

Oh my aching back! (after picking up Ludo). Hope his owners have taught that kitty to walk on a leash. Bigger than many dogs, let alone cats.

  6. Beth January 31, 2018 / 11:02 am

Viewing shared twitter videos now comes with a ‘cookies’ consent/warning screen? Give me strength.

James Corden is crazy, in the best possible way. I’d take a consolation puppy over a statuette any day! I’m sure nothing bad happened to the puppies–nobody wants that kind of publicity! I agree it would have been better to mention adopting from a shelter, etc.

DH had his pilot’s license for many years, and our dogs used to fly with us…but in the back. None were amenable to headsets, so we’d put cotton in their ears to mute the engine noise.

I want a comfort golden retriever when I go to the dentist! Not even kidding.

Oh, and I must say, some of the humans in the dogs-are-man’s-best-friend article were pretty wonderful best friends right back to the dogs. I needed that reassurance today.

The “cookies” announcement is there to satisfy a requirement in the European Union that any website collecting tracking information make a prominent announcement and get consent. Some websites show this message to everyone because it’s simpler than detecting the user’s location.

      • Beth January 31, 2018 / 3:34 pm

Thanks, Mike. It’s just…new, is all. Along with one of my favorite twitter accts being ‘suspended’, I’m not having warm, fuzzy feelings about them, at the moment.

More of this kind of thing is what our robot overlords will be doing, I fear, rather than clomping around deleting us.

And it’s like they say, if there’s no discernible product–*you* are the product.

Loved the goggy-as-best-friend pix, but the snow pictures had me ROFLMAOing. Especially since we’ve seen some of the snow pix here!
