Happy Bunday, everyone! And Happy Super Bowl Sunday to the football fans among us. I am not much for NFL football but use it as an excuse to try a new comfort food recipe. Today it’s Buffalo Chicken Macaroni with Buttermilk Blue Cheese Sauce.
Wow, just from the ingredients that sounds delicious!
I looked up the recipe online and it’s hard to tell what it would taste like since it calls for some prepared sauces etc that I’ve never tried/heard of. I’m guessing it’s good since how bad could any macaroni and cheese recipe be?
Trust me, it’s good. And the only prepared or processed ingredient in my recipe is some Frank’s hot sauce which I don’t feel too badly about using since Franks has 5 ingredients on the label, all of which I recognize! I am a bit of a whole-foodie and stay away from a lot of processed stuff. Been marinating my chicken for a day in buttermilk! Made some homemade buttermilk blue cheese sauce this morning so it could ruminate in the fridge all day and blend the flavours!!!!! Still – this recipe is a treat. Anything with this much cheese is a special-occasion food in my house!!!!
Birdcage, please let us know how it turns out!
Don’t you mean Puppy Bowl Sunday? Cuz that’s the only game I care about. ?
Don’t forget the Kitten Bowl! I think it starts at noon on National Geo channel.
Well, I guess I should get in the shower before it starts! It’s almost 11:30!
I dunno…I just discovered they have the Dog Bowl – with older rescue dogs.
Yup, that was darling! So glad all those senior dogs got forever homes. And now for the Puppy Bowl, my fave. I don’t know if I have access to the Kitten Bowl — I had to do a trial subscription to Direct TV just to get the Puppy Bowl today!
Right now they have a Puppy Bowl training camp special on.
Wasn’t that fun? I’ve had the set on all day—and have still managed to get some work done. Best of all possible worlds!
Did you see Buckalew’s back story? He was in the wedding where the bridesmaids carried puppies instead of flowers. I remember that story!
I couldn’t find a Kitten Bowl either! How disappointing, but it was nice to see the older dogs.
I’ve been switching back and forth between the Puppy Bowl and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – a station has been playing it non-stop all day. I love it. My husband is upstairs watching the game. He’s not a huge football fan but he felt he needed to watch this one. He said the Eagles were playing really well. What do I know?
And this year, there’s a SLOTH!!!!
I know!!!
Wow, send me a case of bun in a can, they are tot adorbs!!!
And I just have to let it out so don’t hate on me – Go Pats!!!
Go Team Fluff!!!
Where can I super express an order for a case of the Bun-in-a- Can, for my super bowl party? I’m slow cooking roast beef for sandwiches & preparing other goodies. Sorry, AJ – go Eagles (wish there were different teams playing) but it’s a great excuse for family, friends, bunnehs and food!
Luv Bunny, you’re bringing back fond memories. I used to make Beef on Weck for Super Bowl parties (especially when the Bills were playing). I don’t have a favorite this year… My teams are the Vikings and the Saints!
I’m bummed I don’t have a bright-eyed, bouncy cuddle bunny… and I won’t be able to watch the Super Bowl (too late for me… 7 hour time difference and I have to teach in the morning). But I compensate by getting my students to watch and comment on the commercials, and teaching them a little about American capitalism! Have a great Super Bowl, y’all!
Bun in a can never goes stale, either! What a cutiepie.
I’m probably the only person in America who doesn’t care about the Superbowl (if it really were a Superb Owl, that would be different). It only impinges on my world because I have to call my dad earlier today–don’t want to interrupt his viewing!
Here you go, DebG! http://www.cakewrecks.com/home/2018/2/4/superb-owl-sunday-sweets.html
No, you’re not. 😉
My friend is having game night tonight; he’s setting up the table in front of the TV (usually it’s in the other room). He’s calling it Superb Owl Gaming Party. And this is the picture he put on it:
Oh, I’m with you DEBG, it holds no charm for me at all. And fan behavior is beyond my ability to comprehend, especially Eagles fans since I’m in the Philly area. Like Allein it’s the Puppy Bowl and the Kitten Bowl for me!
I heard a joke on the radio, something about the only question is whether Philly will be set on fire by angry fans or happy fans.
I couldn’t care less about the Superbowl, DebG. But I love all the Animal Bowl games that encourage adopt-don’t-shop and rescue.
Hey guys, I decided to make an appointment with the vet tomorrow to put Pie down– Pie is ol flappy lips, real name.
He was slowing down in eating all week and now he is not eating anything. I have a can of tuna that I will open tonight for him. I have left a message with the vet and just contacted all at work that I won’t be in. I have to be strong for him. I have been his Mom for 18 years.
OMG, I’m so sorry! Your post made me teary-eyed. My Wacket died at 18 six years ago and I still think of him every day. Cuddle Pie and know you gave him a wonderful life of safety, plenty, and love.
🙁 I’m sorry.
Oh, no, not ol’ Flappy Lips! I just called my cat by that name this morning as an homage! I suppose the baton will pass to my Purrdita and you will know that the name and spirit live on. Oh, aching heart! I was just thinking how many cat abscesses there have been – three, counting my Purdy – and my rabbit – and that they’ve all come through – and now this! You be strong for Pie and we’ll be strong for you FKAWaldenPond. (who’s cutting onions!!!?)
I’m so sorry. You know you’re doing the right thing, and we know it, and Pie knows it. He couldn’t have had a better mom or a better life. But that doesn’t make it any easier.
So sorry to hear. We all feel your sorrow, been there so many times, and it’s hard everytime. But the joy our pets give us hoomins, out weighs the pain.
Feathered hugs to you.
His nickname will be in our hearts forever.
FKAWALDENPOND, I am sending you cyberhugs and much, much sympathy. I remember how hard it was to do this for my late kitties, Mookie and Mazzilli, both of whom had cancer (different types).
I am sure you have given your Pie all the love and best care that you or anyone could, and that Pie knows it.
Again, my sympathies. Do you have a friend who can take you to the vet and back, and offer you a shoulder to cry on?
Parting is such sweet sorrow… we still have our memories but dang! the heartbreak of losing a member of the family. Standing in virtual solidarity with you, FKAWalden.
Hey guys thank you– this really hard, incredibly hard– my heart is breaking but I know it is time. I need to go for a walk now, I don’t feel like it but I should. Thanks again.
So sorry. The nickname Flappylips brought such funny images of yowley cats into my mind. Good old Pie living to 18 shows how much care and love you gave.
Thinking of you, FKA. Sending you some love and comforting thoughts. It is a loving thing to do.
So sorry to hear about Pie 🙁 I had a cat live to 20 once, but it’s just never long enough, is it?
I’m am so sorry, the hardest part of having a pet is letting them go when the times comes but the love they give us is worth it.
I am so sorry, Fkawaldenpond 🙁 /hug
(maybe later a wonderful kitten will be waiting for the perfect mum making it easier to get over this loss)
Oh no! 🙁 You must be a great and caring mom to him, since he’s lived such a long life. Give yourself time to grieve and heal, and let your friends here comfort you when you need it.
So sorry, making that decision is never easy but try to remember it’s in their best interest and that they’ll no longer be suffering. As my brother says during times that might be emotionally difficult – Put your Spock ears on. I don’t think he means to totally stuff down your feelings but just put a brave face on at the time of the situation you’re dealing with and then deal with the feelings later.
Best of luck and like everyone here, sending plenty of hugs. I guess with so many hugs coming your way, it qualifies as a very large group hug. Just think of it, since it is Super Bowl Sunday, as a team huddle with you and Pie in the middle surrounded by lots of love and positive good vibes.
So sorry to hear that! It’s an awful decision to have to make.
I’m so sorry to hear that. I can’t believe it’s been eighteen months since I made that sad last trip to the vet with my little Daisy.
Love and hugs to FKAWaldenPond from me & Dmitri Purrshkavich. So much care and joy and cuddling – all going both ways – yet for too short a time. What a Faustian bargain such heartbreak seems! Yet all is superseded by the love you and Pie gave each other, which surpasses all understanding. ?
