    That log! would go right in the living room next to his dog bed. Or hung on a rope for Doggo yard game.

    Very high self esteem that Good Boy has.

          I suspect termites were involved, but it’s still darned impressive.

            I suspect you are right, the log has probably been hollowed out by termites so doesn’t weigh much.

    Hi guys, thank you so much for your support yesterday. I did euthanize Pie this afternoon, bawling the entire time. My vet and tech are really good people so that made it well, more honest. Now I am experiencing the awful loop of heavens, I feel so lousy, reach for Pie for a hug and then realizing oh yah, that’s the problem.
    I know I did the right thing and I did good by him. I did three years of sub q fluids at home which got him eating and relatively healthy. Friday evening after eating less and less, (I threw out so much good cat food these past years so he would eat new fresh portions) he wouldn’t even lurp up his favourite malt laxatone and barely touched our breakfast yogurt. It was time. The good news holy smokes, he loved, loved the can of tuna- he had three massive helpings over the past 24 hours. He was happy and content as he could be this last day. I did good by him. Thanks again for your support and listening, I really appreciate it.

      You did what was best for him, hard as that was. I know every time I had to make that same decision I swore never again, it’s too painful to let them go. That lasts at most a few weeks and then I realize that I can’t live without an animal friend. I’m sure you’ll get there in your own time and again share your life with a furry friend.

      You did what was right and made his last days happy, but yes, it still hurts! My sincerest condolences to you.

    • Faye February 5, 2018 / 6:48 pm

      Awwww. Yes, you did very good. Poor baby, poor you. But you gave him a feast. He must have loved the tuna considering how poor his appetite was for all else. I’m very sure he’s eating all the tuna now. ?

      I’m empathizing like crazy – two years ago I euthanized my Minkette (at 22) after almost a year of three and four times a week visits to the vet for subcutaneous fluids (she absolutely would not allow me to do it). When you care for them so closely I think you become even more attached and close to them. Your story about the tuna particularly moved me – the morning of the day I took her to be euthanized I did a petting routine that we had done for years. She couldn’t really participate like she used to but she actually purred when I did my part – I will never forget that – her expression of pleasure in my petting was the communication/conversation I craved on her last day. Your Pie talked to you with his pleasure in the tuna.

      I am so sorry for your loss, FKA. It is such a brave and loving thing to do. I am sending you lots of love as you grieve.

      I am so sorry! I’ve had to make that decision before, and it’s hard even when it’s obviously right. I’m glad he had a good last day. {{{HUGS}}}

      You and Pie have been in my thoughts today. Such a great story about the tuna, though my heart is still breaking for you.

      Thank so much everyone, it helps and means a lot to me.

        I’m late to replying, but I echo what everyone else has said. Be good to yourself; you were always so good to Pie.

    That dog looks like he gives a look of “I brought it, you better throw it…” to the owner! 😀
