Birdie looks like it’s having fun!! I used to have a Senegal parrot that would do something similar but spin/flip around it’s perch. We used say that she was doing loop de loops.

And that’s a learned, deliberate maneuver. If birdie stayed motionless she would not be able to do a full rotation as some of the energy would be lost due to friction. She has to tuck in her head while at the bottom in order to increase the angular velocity so that she can rotate all the way back up to the top (kinda like how a figure skater tuck in her arms to spin faster).

I love how much the bird is obviously enjoying itself – and I love that the plumage is just a tad darker than the pink my studio is painted.
