Schrödinger’s Maru

In Erwin Schrödinger’s famous thought experiment, a cat in a box can be simultaneously alive and dead depending upon a subatomic event that may or may not occur. This has led to a number of variations, including Schrödinger’s Maru, in which the feline Internet celebrity is both simultaneously in the box and not in the box. Scientists are divided over the cause of this phenomenon, with some saying the box is “too small” while others insisting that Maru is “too fat.”

The mind reels, Andrew Y.

Maru is neither in or out – he and the box are one.

The box must be too small because we know Maru is the perfect size.
