Great links – loved the tiny owl’s scrubbing itself. And WHAT a good boy! The golden protecting his owner (don’t like that word – companion?) Very touching. Great news about gorillas! I got such a kick out of the bear – just having a great time at someone else’s expense – like the joke about what you call an 800 lb. gorilla – “SIR”.
Happy Fourth of July to all of us here in the states and may we continue exercising our freedoms to the fullest. And everyone else, I just hope you enjoy your day come what may.
We had a great series of thunderstorms last night so I don’t have to water the garden today. That is a load off my mind. When I water it requires putting a sprinkler on the hose end and setting it down for a certain amount of time – 15-30 minutes – then moving it to the next spot. The banks (short banks) are trickiest. Sometimes I’ll have 3 hoses going at one time in different areas. It’s really a job. This explains why not having to do it is making me happy!

We had some long rumbles of thunder and a little rain last night, but not enough to cancel the fireworks down the road. I need to get in the shower and get over to the orchard shop for pie to take to dinner tonight. My mom requested apple. They close at 2:00 today, according to their facebook page.

A swollen headed dog image blurred?really? ?
debgJuly 4, 2018 / 9:54 am
That poor sweet doggie looks so awful! I was actually relieved his pic was blurred–once I clicked through and saw his face, I kinda wished I hadn’t. Glad he’ll make a full recovery. He’s a hero.
Ditto, I saw the un-blurred picture first, and it was tough to look at first thing in the morning.

The Killer Rabbit strikes again! Glad the little guy got rescued.
Todd the dog deserves a medal and all the treats he can hold. Bear and Bull, on the other hand, are adorably mischievous scamps.
Critters cooling off in pools and tubs win the internet. The bear had me ROFLMAOing. (Though the hoomin was incredibly foolhardy to get so close.)
The gorillas make me so happy, especially after Koko’s recent death. Keep those pick-up lines coming, boys!

Happy day to all! It’s an amazing thing our forefathers and foremothers did, trying to create a new nation from scratch.
I’m wet-sanding my drywall patches today, then starting to clean up my basement kitchen. It’s very disorienting to have a day off in the middle of the week, but I shall struggle through it.
Speaking of struggle, if y’all haven’t seen the Second Civil War Letters twitter feed, it’s wonderfully clever and hilarious. Now that I’ve found it, I can’t stop popping in for new letters. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23secondcivilwarletters&src=tyah

alleinJuly 4, 2018 / 8:29 pm
lol…I didn’t see that one.

Okay, I was just reading through some of the twitter page and I am fully behind this one:
“I need to hear Morgan Freeman reading #secondcivilwarletters over the Ken Burns documentary footage.”

YES! And occasionally David McCullough.

Only red a few and don’t get it, who are the red hats? Are those references to that awful “make america great” baseball caps?

Yup.

Hello and Merry July 4th to the neighbours down below! You guys can try our patience at times but we love you anyway. 😉 🙂 No seriously, you are a great country with incredible people– have a wonderful holiday, be safe and thank you for being you. 🙂

Owl looks like it is scrubbing its wing-pits. 🙂

Thixendale, which is about 20 miles from where I live, has an odd claim to fame – the village is surrounded by hills which blocked terrestrial TV signals, a problem only solved by advances in technology in the late 1990s. So until the advent of satellite TV the locals had to entertain themselves by watching owls bathing in ponds.

Were they able to get radio signals? I would imagine so– how could they get one without the other?
Alice ShortcakeJuly 4, 2018 / 6:38 pm
Confession time – I got this snippet of useless information from the mighty oracle Wikipedia, which is silent on the subject of radio signals…
fkaWaldenPondJuly 4, 2018 / 7:46 pm
Ohh! 😀 ! Maybe that was the ‘story’ the village elders all told their kids– Ayyy, sorry kids, no Ed Sullivan and The Beatles, simply cannot get it with the landscape around here.

Question,
has that bear been tagged? Or does he have some sort of flower behind his ear,
Love the good news for gorillas.
alleinJuly 4, 2018 / 8:30 pm
I thought it looked like a flower petal at first, too. Pretty sure it’s a tag.

I’ve heard that carrots are bad for dogs but can’t seem to find a reason why. Are they choking hazzards?
Bunny is da bomb!

Ya-a-a-aaay!
Update on the heroic dog who saved his human from a rattlesnake. He’s looking much better and went to the ball park!
Aw, thanks for the update, Mike!
Did he get to throw out the first pitch? (Then fetch it?)
?
Such a sweetie – he does look so much better – he’s a little miracle!
