This persistent pussycat clearly isn’t a music lover, because every time her mommy sits down to play, she gets in the way. Or maybe the cat merely prefers Chopsticks to Chopin — and if those chopsticks could be putting some tuna in a bowl, so much the better.
Everyone’s a critic, Edmund H.
LOL this is so funny! That kitty is such a big baby and clearly believes that his hoomin’s hands are strictly for pets and scratches. Yep, typical cat. ?
I think kitteh understands the sound of piano music as a call to cuddling.
Yep – if she cuddles him each time it reinforces that behavior – which is delightful. I wonder what she does when she really has to practice?!
He’s one o’ them “liquid cats”.
I want to be reincarnated as a cat.
Cat is Chopin reincarnated. “Look if you are going to play it wrong you might as well stop and give me pets.”
BTW I love that musical rug that the piano bench is sitting on.
Wow, that lady can really play – despite her apparent inability to have an uninterrupted practice session.
I think the cat believes the lady has practiced enough to achieve the high-level dexterity necessary for proper cat massage, and that any further artistic development would just be self-centered indulgence on the human’s part.
Play her off, Keyboard Cat!
Murray C. reminds me that the title is a reference to a classic song, and found the cover of the sheet music. How cool is this?
Love the old-fashioned artwork. I just discovered old-time trade cards (promotional cards that businesses gave out) and a lot of them have charming graphics. If you do an image search for “trade cards” it gives a good array – lots of cute animal images.
And here’s a recording by the composer and his orchestra!

Thanks for finding that, R’s Mom! I couldn’t take the time.
Awwww, how cute… looks like the tip of his tail is perma-curled. I’d love this to be my day to day.
Music doth not soothe this savage beast…..
Cat obviously thinks Chopin is just an exercise to build up finger strength for skritches.
That is my favorite piece of music. And I love her practice room. Having a piano is quite a commitment for tiny apartments in Japan.
I love how much cuddling and attention she gives him each time. They seem like such a happy duo.
