“See, when I suggested that you kids were spending too much time lying around the house and needed to get outside more, I had kind of assumed that there would be some degree of running around and playing involved.”
Oh, I’m sure there was playing at some point, Sharon H.
Mom looks so pleased!! Now maybe she can take a nap too!
It’s 94 degrees here. If I was outside that’s just how I’d look, too.
95 here, with a “feels like” of 101. I am all those pups, except for being indoors (and not nearly as squee-worthy). A/C is on—not blasting, just on. On days like this I am more grateful than ever for industrialized-world creature comforts. I know they have their downside, but right now A/C is not one of them.
I hadn’t even looked at the “feels like” (104!!).
I’m at work so I am freezing. Not looking forward to getting in my car in an hour or two…I doubt it’ll be much cooler by then (though I did remember to cover the gearshift with the towel I keep in there so at least it won’t burn my hand; it gets even hotter than the steering wheel (which I did not cover; I need a bigger towel)).
Allein – you seem like someone who likes their creature comforts. Have you ever had one of these? I LOOOOOVE them. You don’t burn your hands in the summer and don’t freeze them in the winter. 😉
PS: they come in “less fuzzy” too.
I’ve had the silver mylar steering wheel cover (which just slips over it when you’re parked) in the past but never one made from muppet-skin. I have looked a little for something like that but haven’t seen anything I like so far.
I also want some kind of organizer that hangs off the back of the front seat because this car doesn’t even have the net pouch on there that every other car I’ve ever had came with. There are no places to store stuff other than the glove box and the center console, neither of which holds much.
muppet-skin! That’s the adjective I was looking for!
Good luck searching for your other needs. They must be there somewhere.
Although my car is blue…
I’ve seen one organizer thing but it was ugly black with red trim. Doesn’t match at all!
I’m thinking some google eyes are in order.
Little puppers have the right idea. Where I am we have 102 feels like temperatures. Millie and I are lying down on the bed with AC. I’m out of sorts from waking up at 2:45 am. I don’t even feel like drawing.
I opened the front door to get mail. It felt like I was blasted with sunny car exhaust. Yuck.
It was so gross when I left the house this morning. And then they had the sprinklers running, which I feel like is a waste since it’s just going to evaporate. They should run them in the wee hours so the ground can soak up some of the water before it gets sunny. (Though as humid as it was, it actually might not evaporate, because if the water sucked up any more air** I’d have been swimming to my car.)
(I think they were just watering the flowers along the entrance road, though. For a while they kept running them in front of the buildings when people would be leaving for work/waiting for the school bus. I have a feeling someone complained and they started doing it really late (or early, depending on your perspective, I guess), which I only figured out because occasionally I’ll be up really late and hear them come on.)
**I realized upon rereading before hitting the post button that I wrote that backwards, but it seems more fitting given the weather, so I’m leaving it.
My metaphor for weather like this (and I may have said it before) is like walking into a dog’s mouth.
Awful here, too! And yet I just saw a Samoyed in someone’s yard jumping and playing and looking utterly ecstatic. Crazy dog! If I were forced to wear a fur coat in this heat, I’d be a puddle of despair and sweat.
There are a couple young Huskies (one was a puppy last summer, the other was probably the equivalent of a teenager) in my complex. They must love the summer around here…
The heatwave in England ended a couple of days ago. I had to dig out a sweater and my winter slippers!
Last I checked (which was yesterday) they were predicting thunderstorms on Thursday and then temps in the 70s for the next few days after that. We had a few really nice days last week, too.
Alice, THAT sounds wonderful right now!! Of course I will feel otherwise, when eventually the temp. will dip to -15 F and even lower…
Had to give up driving because at those low temps my hands go numb (Reynaud’s Syndrome) even with the heater blasting and warm gloves.
I’ve dreamt of finding a location where the range never exceeds
+75 F – +45 F…
Is this like a new lazy husky breed for those of us who can’t walk them 3 times a day? Because if it is, I’ll take the cute chubster on the lower right 🙂
Do you mean the one with the kiss–magnet chin in the air? I spotted it first!! 😀
That chin is just begging for scritches.
Can anyone else see the invisible puppy in the lower left quadrant? That patch of dirt looks puppy shaped.
OMG ONE OF THEM MELTED!!!
How did they train the pups to fit themselves into the corresponding cutouts?!
Enhance!
Lol! Must have been a board(er) collie.
LOL ! 😀
A tornado warning just expired here; looked pretty scary for awhile and there is still torrential rain, but the sky doesn’t look so threatening now.
Oh how I envy how these darling little puppies look to be absolutely zonked out. I am a light sleeper myself!
I luff all these puppies, including their mom.
So sorry for those of you suffering heatwaves. Stay hydrated, everybody! Alice Shortcake, I envy your early English autumn and can’t wait to dig out my fall sweaters.
