I saw those doggies in the cage on the news the other night. It was their “feel good” story to end the broadcast with. (And according to the news story, the family had escaped with their kids and other pets, and tried to go back for the dogs, but authorities wouldn’t let them. They didn’t just abandon them.)
My birthday is coming up and I have to work that day. I expect a Corgigram.

Thanks for letting us know the family tried to rescue their own dogs. I’m greatly relieved to know that, but I still don’t understand why they had six dogs, or indeed any dogs, in a cage.
Yay for all rescuers and emergency fosterererers!

Thanks for clearing that up. It seemed to me that it wouldn’t have been presented as a happy story if the dogs had been abandoned, but still. I remember during Katrina seeing a news clip of a woman being separated from her dog before she was put into a boat to escape the rising waters. I have not forgotten her screaming/crying. If I remember correctly FEMA changed its policy after Katrina and tries to save the pets along with the people now.

That workplace with the balloon corgi looks like a fun place to work. Love the stuff animals hanging over the wall of the adjacent work station!!!! I wish I had a bring-your-pet-to-workplace. Although it’s hard enough to get my everyday work done so maybe it would be bad for my productivity.
OK, this doggie confirmed it: an adorable smiling corgi is the best antidote for the daily dose of poisonous news. If only my cat would let me have one…
I remember seeing a pet tortoise with a similar balloon tracking device. Clever!

Looks around office to see if there’s a balloon walking by with a corgi attached. ?? I feel cheated.
But I love that smile of his, he’s probably very popular at this workplace.

The Beluga video! Wow – so so beautiful! At lunch the other week a coworker confessed she had only learned last year that Narwhals were real. She thought they were in the same category as unicorns.

I think in the Old Days, narwhal horns were presented as proof that unicorns were real, so she wasn’t too far off the mark.
