Happy Caturday and welcome to the weekend! Today we have a special treat courtesy of reader AJ, who sent in two videos of foster kittens Izzy (in the pink collar) and Chris (in the blue)! Look at ’em go!

Gah! so cute! AJ – how do you get anything done? Thanks for sending us videos. This will be watched several times today.
Had kind of a rough week emotionally – all work stuff and money related. Glad it’s over now. the Peek-a-boo birdy helped a lot! I have a very long list of things to do this weekend, but right now I’m enjoying my coffee and sewing eyeballs onto the whales I knitted this week for baby shower gifts.
I hope everyone is well and has nice plans for the weekend!
xo
Awwwww + Awwwww.
They match!
Love the toy with ball. But those high tech aluminum foil ballies are the best.
Thanks Mike for posting! The kittens are almost big enough to go back to the shelter and be put up adoption. I’m going to recommend they go together since they enjoy each other’s company a lot. The little boy is a little more laid back and the girl is bold and sassy, always getting herself into situations where she’s need to be saved from herself. She’s the one that’s crawled up in the recliner and squeezed herself behind the fridge. Always gotta keep an eye on her! Plus mom is so sweet, I’m hoping she gets a great home too where she can be the pampered diva she deserves. I’ve taken to calling her Blanche as she’s been relying on the kindness of strangers.
Big weekend ahead for me. Not one but two major concerts I have tickets for. Tonight it’s Doobie Brothers, Zac Brown Band and the Eagles. Tomorrow it’s Cheap Trick, Journey and Def Leppard. I don’t even drink and I have a feeling I’ll be hungover on Monday. Other than prepping for those, just a few little errands to deal with this weekend. Plus enjoying all the cuteness. LOL, right now they’ve turned my couch into a wrestling arena.
Hello All. Right now I am sitting outside with Millie. Lovely low humidity, sun with a breeze.
Plans for the day are routine chores then art.
Outside again in the evening. Thrilled to be done with this year’s Summer.
I had seen both videos before but it was just as cute the second time. I especially enjoyed Izzy carrying that foil ball in her mouth.
Happy Caturday, everyone!
It’s a beautiful rainy day here, and I’m enjoying it to the utmost. Got a mug of vanilla tea, footy flannel jammies and a brand new Dr. Who book: Twice Upon A Time.
Slowly coming off the prednisone, and I can already feel a difference.
I’ve started my fall crafting, and I get to play in fabric stores next week.
Hubby’s work insurance has FINALLY kicked in, so I can get caught up on dental and optical.
Last of the test results came back this week: all normal.
Registering at a US library branch next week. Thank you to for making that suggestion last week; I can get that book I want without having to pay an outrageous Amazon price.
Have an incredible upcoming week, all of you.
That should say “thank you to Maia”.
Oh, Duckie, I am so glad that is going to work for you! yay!
Life sounds good Duckie.
Oooh, sounds like a fun day. I would love to have some rain, I can’t even remember when it rained here last. And it’s still very warm. I’m so ready for cooler weather.
I ♥ house panthers!
Nice cool cloudy day here. I’ve had my morning swim, and now I’m hoping to get a few things done around the house.
Lily coyly hopes everyone has a great weekend!
Lovely Lily, thank you.
Lily is so beautiful.
Such a beautiful girl, love her eyes.
The kittens had just about killed me, then Lily finished me off. Ded. Thunk.
Lily! I love how in this photo the black spot on her nose looks like a heart. Such a pretty kitty.
Happy Caturday! Kitties are too cute.
Not much in the way of weekend plans. I’m off this coming week, my aunt is coming to visit from Houston next weekend and we’ll go out for my birthday, which is the Monday I go back to work. 🙁 Haven’t decided where to go yet. Or I could ask my mom to make roast chicken.
Ah yes, the days of foil balls everywhere! There were several years when every time we moved the couch to put up the Christmas tree, we would find foil balls galore that had escaped paw’s reach. What fun to have kittens in the house! I love when Izzy has the foil ball in her mouth, and discovers the second foil ball on the floor…. oh, what to do?
It is Day -1 for my son’s move to University; we are going out to brunch today and then I will help him finish packing and do whatever else that I can to help calm his nerves. Tomorrow we leave early in the morning.
I wish everyone a happy first day of Fall, and a wonderful weekend and week ahead!
Yeah for your son and tell him to remember everyone is the new kid and nervous.
And that professors are there to help. Seriously.
Love the kitties! Especially the sassy girl Izzy! Her jaunty walk with her “prey” was adorable.
Autumn is at least a month away in the deep South. I was raised in MA so I envy Duckie’s rainy Saturday.
Could ya’ll keep me in your thoughts. I left my job as a hospital chaplain a year ago. I am trying to find a work in a new direction (15 years in hospice/hospital chaplaincy is enough). Nothing yet. Getting past those HR computers is difficult.
Good luck! Brave of you to try for something different.
Positive thoughts sent your way. Job hunting in these days of computers and internet applications is pretty tough. Can any of your contacts from the hospital help with connecting you to someone who’s in the field you want to go into? I’m finding these days it’s all about who you know, sometimes even more than what’s on your resume or experience.
I second AJ–when I moved out of academia and then had to find a new job last winter, it really was all about who I knew. It’s much easier to find a job when you know someone who already works at the company.
Jeannine, the right job will find you. Career transitions are tough (I remember well!) but they’re very satisfying. We’re crossing all our fingers and paws for you.
My initial reaction to these cutiepies was just like Tara’s: Gah! AJ, how do you get anything done? If it were me, I’d be definitely considering a foster fail. Such adorable fluffballs, and Izzy’s proud strut was fabulous.
Tough week this week because of home improvement projects. The HVAC installation that was supposed to take 2 days still isn’t done–they should be able to finish up Monday. There’s dust everywhere because they had to cut holes through the walls, plus I’m still deconstructing the bathroom. Poor kitties have been very upset having strangers in the house, plus me turning their world upside-down. I can’t yell at them for relieving themselves in inappropriate places, even when Beano pooped on my pillow. (Fortunately I had just sat up in bed. Imagine if I hadn’t.)
But house projects always hit this point of “Why did I think this was a good idea?” and then they turn a corner. The bathroom is going to be so great even halfway done. Getting rid of that horrid sink and vanity today was very satisfying. Pulling up all the tile and backer board has been tough but also satisfying.
Hugs to you all. Sounds like people have some exciting weekend plans.
Happy Fall Equinox everyone!! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And it finally feels like fall here in Ohio. I’m currently listening to college football with the windows open and a sleeping cat under the blanket on my lap. It’s a great day =)
A bit of hilarity at the Shortcakery in the early hours of Friday morning, when a gale force wind sent plastic recycling boxes put out for collection flying up and down the street. I went downstairs and found the front door propped open and my 84 year old father, clad in pyjamas, sandals and an inside-out sweater, doing what looked like Marcel Marceau’s “walking against the wind” sketch as he tried to rescue our boxes. The litter-strewn state of the street as revealed in daylight wasn’t quite so hilarious!
In other news, I found a new home for my website – http://www.chinesewigscam.com – and made some heartening progress in the fight against these crooks, who prey on chemo patients and other people suffering from hair loss. I discovered that quite a few of their domains were illegally registered with names and addresses stolen from unsuspecting members of the public, and as a result no less than five websites – including that of the worst offender, http://www.wigsis.com – have been taken down!
*does happy dance*
Wow! You could have a career in law enforcement! We need people like you to fight cybercrime.
I’d LOVE a career fighting cybercrime, but at 58 I’m afraid it’s a bit late to start!
Oh my Alice, the box rescue does sound semi-comical and kudos to your dad for even attempting it. And a big Yipppeee! for helping take down some internet pirates. False websites and fake goods are a big problem anyways but trying to scam sick people is really low.
So my mom just sent me a message saying she figured out the joke I played on her while I was housesitting last week…I completely forgot what I had done. ?
She had a word-search book that she was maybe 1/4 through…I went ahead and circled one word in each puzzle for…I don’t know how many (I was going to go to the end of the book but I didn’t get around to finishing it). ?
Wordsearch! I used to love those things. Back in the mid-80s I even contributed a few to one of the magazines.
Sigh, I don’t manage to get online ’til well after dinner but it’s been fun to see what everyone is up to. Duckie, glad things are going well, Jan, great to hear from you and Lily, Tara, I hope things are going smoother for you, Jeannine, good luck with the job search.
It felt a bit like fall here today in the Philadelphia area and I worked in the garden for a few hours but man, did I HURT! Has anyone ever gotten a muscle spasm in their collar bone for pity’s sake!!!? I’m trying to pull out/prune anything that has seeds ready to pop and it’s a gargantuan task. I’m going to try laying down corn gluten meal to suppress seed germination next year. I have an enormous fig “bush”, really, with tons of fruit but none of it ripe and doubtful it will ripen, sadly. So tonight painting at my drawing table and watching something not TOO interesting on TV or I’ll get distracted.
Little kitties are extravagantly cute – I, too, remember those days of finding tin foil balls all over the place.
Thanks MurrayC! I hope you aren’t too sore from yesterday’s gardening. A collar bone muscle spasm does not sound fun at all. Apropos of gardening and you live in Philly, do you know about RainCheck? It’s a joint program between the Horticultural Society and PGW to help manage storm water run off. It is amazing! They are giving away and installing free rain barrels! I got mine on Thursday. I didn’t even have to be home. Here’s the link:https://www.pwdraincheck.org/en/
This morning I spent an hour or so pulling up weeds and grass sprouting from the house-fronts on my street (the front doors open straight onto the pavement). It always amazes me that people will quite happily tolerate weeds two feet tall right outside their front door when all they have to do is to sprinkle some weedkiller or bleach in the cracks to stop the damn things growing in the first place! I also picked up the litter thrown about by the gale on Thursday night/Friday morning.
