The Toronto Zoo needs a name for the pygmy hippo calf born to mother Kindia. The female calf was born August 10, and mother and baby greeted the public for the first time last month. Today’s the last day to vote on one of the four names, so click the link below and vote!

And here she comes! But first mama has to check out the selfie stick in the pool to make sure it’s OK.
Just like we’ve seen with Fiona and her mother Bibi, the new calf likes to play with her mom by biting and exploring her mouth.

I vote Penelope just because I like the name Penelope (for animals more than people).
I chose Zawadi; I like that it’s Swahili in origin (as is Alika) and that it’s phonetically spelled (which if the voting site is accurate (I don’t think it is), Alika is not).
Grown-up hippos can be truly fearsome, I know, but toothless baby hippo mouths are still absolutely adorable.
Indeed! Those chompers we see on mama in the second video are not to be trifled with. (And this is a *pygmy* hippo!)
Good thing people have to choose from a list XD
No Hippo McHippoface.
?The gift that keeps on giving, that one …
I don’t have Twitter but if I did I would have picked Penelope. She’s very cute.
I see both mama and baby got into Tocktober mode on the first video! Good job, ladies!
Aw – love both of the Swahili names. Three syllables just rolls off the tongue.
extra note: nice ‘tock view of mom in the first video. jes’ sayin’
