“… and then (snif, snif) Becky Schnossgarter said that I wasn’t a tiger and I said I am so a tiger because I have stripes and then she said tigers are big and I’m small and then everybody laughed at me and can I please go to a different school now?”

Awwwwwww. Man the onions are strong in here today. Beautiful picture and the story captures the sentiments of pretty much every grade schooler who’s been picked on. Don’t worry sweetie, this too will pass. Just ignore them and be the tiger you are inside.
Took my brain forever to see the tiger in the water reflection.
Aw, how sweet are both posts! I want hugs, too! It’s my birthday! (hee, hee) And what am I doing? Housework – cleaning, vacuuming, laundry. I tell ya, this is for the birds. My husband is involved in a big regatta this week end – it’s ALWAYS this weekend and it’s always around my birthday so he’s off doing regatta stuff. And here I am. But I will bide my time and next week maybe we’ll do something – I’m not here crying into my beer or anything, it’s just fun to bitch!? I’m actually quite content. And I’m hosting an event on Sunday for halloween – there’s a song I love, s Scottish ballad, called “Tam Lin” and it takes half an hour to sing. I’ve invited a bunch o’ friends, we’ll have wine and treats, I’ll sing the song and then we’ll have a discussion of it afterwards – like a book club, but different. Most of the friends I’ve invited are artists, poets and painters – visual people – and the song is so rich in imagery, all about faeries, knights, princesses. So today I’m getting ready.
Happy Birthday, MurrayC!!! Have fun with the sing-a-long! Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate!!!
Happy Birthday!!
Does Meowy Maids do laundry?
Happy Birthday!! Sometimes it’s even more fun to have a birthday week (or month!) instead of just 1 day to celebrate.
Happy Birthday Murray and Tam Lin night sounds fascinating. I would love to hear you sing and listen to the discussion afterwards. 🙂
Happy, happy birthday!
Happy Birthday. Just because your husband is busy doesn’t mean you can’t do something special for yourself on your day.
Happy birthday!
You might or might not know the Pamela Dean novel called Tam Lin. I like it quite a bit: young women in college with men who turn out to be fairies (not gay, actually fairies).
Happy Birthday! Sounds like you have a great day planned!
Thanks, everybody!
Happy birthday, Murray 🙂
Happy birthday! Your situation sounds like my brother, who has a birthday close to Christmas day.
My mother’s was Christmas Eve – worse, even, than Christmas day! Everyone is so busy decorating, getting last minute stuff done, no time for the poor kid who happened to be born that day.
Belated Happy Birthday!
thanks for all your birthday wishes, everyone. I can barely find time to be online recently so I hope you all see this! Big smooches to everybody.?
omigod
Becky Schnossgarter! Snort! One of your best Mike!
Sniffle. How precious is that photo? Perfect narrative, Mike.
My mum’s been gone over 30 years, I’m a senior citizen, and…
…I miss my mummy!
Could I offer a hug, Beth? ((()))
My Mom has been gone 25 years, Beth, and I still miss her!
*sniff* I could use a hug myself right about now. That is so adorable.
Hugs. You ok Duckie?
Sending hugs ((()))
You’re better than a tiger. You’re an adorable kitten and every human’s heart is your prey. Believe me, you are knocking ’em dead!
Edit
OMGosh! I just noticed the leetle pink tongue!
This has been the best one on Cutetropolis, both the story and the picture are perfect.
P.S. I will slap Becky silly for you, lil’ Tiger
Do I see a tiny tongue?
You do! I see it too.
What is it about tiny tongues that increases a photo’s cuteness quotient by a factor of umpteen?
Cat moms never cease to amaze me.
Aww, you ARE a real tiger. And I’m going to have a talk with Becky Schnossgartner’s parents.
This story is right up there with “Klamath Falls 1964”. Brilliant! Thanks, NTMTOM.
Oh for Pete’s sake, this actually made me tear up! Perfection, Mike!
Did anyone else notice what beautiful markings that kitten has?
I love this post so much. Infinite cuteness combined with Mike’s hysterical backstory. Plus a blep!
Meanwhile, Second Kitten watches enviously and thinks “I didn’t get a hug when that huge Yorkshire terrier barked at me…”
