I don’t know what came over me. I had no idea there was even such a thing as “formal dress flip-flops” and if I did I certainly wouldn’t have chewed them. I promise to never, ever do that again for as long as I can remember.

Those eyes! Those are weapons!
OMWord! Those puppy dog eyes!
I forgive you.
I even forgive you for forgetting.
I think my heart exploded.
Me, too…
Oh, crap, give him all the flip flops he wants, formal or no.
I have several pairs of shoes in my closet I don’t wear much. He can have ’em all.
No worries pupster. We’ll get you your own pair of flip-flop chew toys. Important for a teething puppie.
This would be the worse behaved dog if he lived with me.
“Did you just kill a man?”
*sad puppy eyes*
“That’s okay. Just don’t do it again. Here’s a flip-flop.”
I’d be the same way. What a sweetiepup!
I don’t know about “formal dress flip-flops” but I did once wear flip flops to a wedding. They were the kind with a wide black band across the top and thicker platform-type sole, but still, flip-flops. But it was an outdoor wedding at a park and I had kicked a chair in the dark the night before and my little toe was purple (and possibly broken but I never got it looked at because, really, what are they gonna do for it?), so they were the only remotely appropriate shoes I could wear.
ARGHHH!! Lethal puppy dog eyes and OMG, are those eye dots??? Ded.
I had a pair of eyes similar to these staring at me over the weekend. Went to the mall for Christmas shopping and the mall was sponsoring a Mega Adoption Fair. Doggies of all shapes and sizes and breeds were there for the taking. Sat down to eat my sandwich and this little black and white female 8 month old chihuahua terrier mix come over and gave me those eyes. Luckily the sandwich was veggies or I would have gladly handed it over to her. After making sure it was okay, the sweet puppers got a few crumbs of feta cheese. So hard to resist but I managed to leave with no new 4 legged friend.
I would give that puppy absolutely everything.
The little Shiba Inu puppy I took care of for five days really enjoyed running around with my boot in her mouth. And socks. OMG, a real puppy! I learned fast to put the socks and shoes behind a door that closed securely. 🙂
So it went well? Did it have an effect on your thinking about whether to get another pup?
It went well, but it was exHAUSting! I adopted Ricky when he was seven, so I’ve never cared for a puppy before. Also, Ricky was in decline over several years, so I’m really out of training for any active dog. But it looks I’ll be caring for Her Royal Puppiness again for a week, this time with some help—I really can’t do it all on my own! I’m waiting to hear from her parents whether they can line up a dog walker to cover one “shift” a day for me. I know they’re trying, but it’s not easy.
I will adopt another dog some day, but this experience has confirmed me in my idea of giving a home to a dog past puppyhood (as I did with Ricky). Puppies are the first to be adopted, and their elders have to wait or go without.
One good thing—I had to go on so many walks I lost over two pounds in five days!
