To hunt the bottle cap, one must become the bottle cap — know its ways, how it thinks, what plastic it’s made of. The bottle cap can stand still for hours. It knows you’re there, taunting you, getting in your mind, waiting for you to make the first move and then — whoosh! — darting under the rug and leaving you empty-pawed.
More cuteness from James D., who last submitted this lickathon.
Pretty sure there’s one under my stove. And I don’t even have a cat.
Those bottle caps are always tricky.
Yes. I am glad to see both the kitty and the cap have found a worthy adversary.
Poor baby, such a look of pure befuddlement. I know it’s there but .. but … but I can’t get it, why????????
Pardon my momentary intrusion; I know you are quite a family here. I’m here daily, but almost never comment. Bottle caps are one of my cats’ favorite toys … sometimes. Also, it makes me giddy when someone shares a video shot in landscape mode. : )
You are more than welcome to join the family. 🙂
Thank you, Allein. Several visits a day is therapeutic for me. I appreciate the welcome. ?
The more, the merrier!
Absolutely!
Hear, hear!
?
Welcome!
Thank you, Faye. ?
Oooooh, I know just what you mean about seeing a video shot in landscape mode. I have the same reaction to seeing “its” spelled correctly. 😉
Same here, Juno!
Someone used “faze” correctly on another post and I almost commented to thank them.
Same here. That comment finally made me relaxed the jaw I always clench in anticipation of that “ph” word.
That is a rare occurrence!
It’s almost sensuous, no?
And so rare.
Indeed.?
Welcome, Ronni!
Thank you, SMARTYPANTS. ?
Hi Ronni! ‘Intrude’ often, as being family, siblings always tend to barge in. 🙂
Thank you, FKAWALDENPOND. True! ?
Welcome, Ronni! Comment anytime! I too enjoy landscape orientation and wish everyone would use it.
Thank you, NTMTOM! I am among those who frequented Cute Overload and then followed you here. I have commented a very few times in the past. I visit often, but busyness keeps me from commenting as much as I otherwise might. I’ve enjoyed observing how several of you have become the family you have. Thank goodness for the animal lovers and advocates. How is that not all of us? ??
And yay to your landscape orientation response comment! ?
Come back and comment! We’ve got big hearts and there’s plenty of room.
Thank you, DEBG. ? You do have big hearts here, agreed.
You will not find a more welcoming community than this one. Welcome!
Thank you, LUCY’S MOM. I believe that’s true. ?
Note how at :31 the kitty starts to dash off then stops himself from crashing into the chairs just in time.
She will have you know “her” name is Daisy! 🙂
We originally named her Huey, alongside her brother Louie, because our last name is Dewey, a’la the Disney ducks… “Daisy” later came when we found out she was female (she was adopted VERY young so it was hard to tell), so we went with Daisy Duck.
😀 Love it!
Adorable kitty. And hello!
Ohai! I stalk the site a lot but don’t post a bunch. I have enough friends to vent my “cuteness” to that I haven’t gotten around to posting a lot here. I’ve got a new cutie stray visiting my patio almost every day, so maybe she’ll find her time to make an appearance on Cutetropolis.
Please please please!
Daisy is quite the hunter. And so pretty too!
Here is my daily-visiting, lap-loving patio kitty giving me so-called “love-bites”: https://www.facebook.com/4917778/videos/10109638701581610/ — She, much like my indoor cat, refuses to pose for a photograph., so that’s all I can offer for now.
James, is one of your ancestors responsible for the Dewey Decimal system? 636.8
I get that a lot, but not as far as I know!
636.8 cats!
Ducks of every kind appear to be welcome here.
I definitely feel that way.
Duly noted, James. My apologies to Daisy. Let me make up for my mis-gendering her by paying her the highest possible compliment: She reminds me of Maru. The stripes and a certain, uh, thickness.
I’ve known a couple cats named Daisy–both very good kitties. One was actually a male. His human had him for YEARS thinking (insisting) that he was female. When he’d gone to a shelter to adopt, he said he wanted a female, and they handed him what was actually a neutered male. Apparently he didn’t look too closely. To quote John Cusack in Grosse Pointe Blank: “I respect my cat’s privacy.”
His wife tried to tell him, but he wasn’t having it. One day he saw Daisy bathing and noticed a pink thing sticking out. He pointed it out to his wife and said, “What is THAT?!” She said, “I think it’s a penis.” He said, “No, no–there’s something wrong with her!” When the vet finally convinced him Daisy was male, according to his wife “the heart just about fell out of the man.” They kept the name, and for the rest of Daisy’s life, the guy would occasionally slip up and call him ‘her.’
Ha!
I assumed the stray-ish (the “ish” is because I’ve pretty much won her over) kitty that frequents my yard was a male simply due to the large ‘territory’ she seemed to have — generally more common for male cats, I think — until getting a better look at the, er, nether regions.
Kitty must be the new Euell Gibbons.
If bottle cap is on a background/surface of the same colour, will kitty get scared by it?
Eye doc says eye is ok. Decreasing prednisone yet again. He sees me again in four weeks. All being well, I can kiss him goodbye after that. Still stuck with lung situation, which doesn’t seem to be doing anything, but the eye bring better is good.
Had a lovely chat with the moon last night. It didn’t say much, but I got the impression it was listening.
??
So glad to hear your eye is better! I will continue sending good vibes your way for the lung situation.
Wonderful about your eye! Seeing is, well, very important!
Yay Duckie!
Wonderful news about your eye! Hopefully the lung situation will improve soon.
It was. Glad the eye situation is ok. You have
enough to fret about.
Aww, Daisy! I’m impressed that Mike keeps track of his readers’ submissions without any prompting (i.e. linking the Lickathon). I interact with about 5-7 cats on any given day, so my camera is always ready to capture the cuteness.
James, sounds like a prescription: Interact with 5-7 cats per day! Hahahahaha. My prescription is for 1-2 dogs per day with 1 cat 5-10 times per day!
