Am I the only one who can’t see the photos of shelter dogs? Usually if for some reason I can’t see a post on my computer, I can see it on my iPad but all I see on both are blank squares.
No problem seeing the rest of the post, BTW I would love to have a boudoir to myself where nobody is allowed to disturb me.

I tried again and got blank squares but I left the window open for a few minutes and the photos finally loaded.

Actually, that’s very cute, I’ve known lots of dogs who would get so excited they’d do a whole body shimmy when wagging their tails. The other links are great but like Allein, why is it so dusty in here, it’s making my allergies act up.
The best is when you can watch the wag gradually propagate forward until the whole dog is moving.

I’m not sure about the cat behavior research. Its possible they see us as much larger cats. But they base it on the fact that cat’s act out behaviors on us that are the same as their interaction with other cats. Hmmm. My feeling is that they have a limited set of behaviors and regardless of whether you are a human, a dog, or other, they use those behaviors to express themselves.
I wonder. I immediately thought of a behavior that cats do that I don’t think works with any creature but a human – the cold shoulder – do what I don’t want you to do and you won’t be petting me again!
I think I recall reading somewhere that cats don’t meow at other cats, only at people…?
Right I think that’s another one. They don’t meow at each other but I don’t know if they meow at other animals.
My cats used to call for each other. Like “where are you” kind of thing. Don’t know if that actually counts as meowing.
I can’t say I recall Stars and Stripes ever actually meowing at each other. Hissing, yes. Plenty of hissing (mostly coming from her). Since he’s been gone she actually talks to my parents more. (Her latest conversations apparently boil down to “mommy, please make the bed so I can take a nap.”)
