Beautiful Daydreamer

(sigh) So many things I want to do with my life, I just don’t know where to begin. Should I start writing my historical romance novel, or open my pop-up boutique selling organic hemp-fiber leashes and vegan dog biscuits? Also, I really should call the veterinarian and ask him what’s happening with my arm…

Maybe he can tell me how to use this thing attached to it.

Apparently this isn’t a watchdog, Sharon H.

I want to read your novel.

Oh yeah my arm. No biggie. Its probably nothing but just to be on the safe side. Just in case. Should get it looked at.

I’m with you, Doggie! So many things I want to do and don’t know where to start. There are novels, academic projects, creative projects, people to see, places to go. If I had my druthers I’d chuck all my education and know-how to become a cemetery gardener (I say this not only because I had a horrendous week with substitute lessons, semester tests, car troubles, and I woke up today, the first day of Spring Break, with a cold).

Thanks, FKAWalden! Living up to your name with the natural world!

Oh, I was so hoping your attached Arboretum Guide would be like the ‘tree key’ we used in 10th grade biology (long before I was older than dirt)! The way it worked was to find a leaf; then look through the key to determine the shape, the color, the veins and any other characteristics…is it this? If not, go to page X. If yes, go to page X…eliminating everything until you found all the matches and knew what kind of tree it came from. Although I’m neither outdoorsy or fanatical about nature, I’ve often wished I had managed to snag a copy. And Sir Google hasn’t been any help.

I live in Minnesota, and we have a wide variety of trees. Yes, this little book looks exactly like what I’ve been looking for. Thank you so much!

This was so interesting, thanks for posting it.
(… and I always secretly wondered if your name was a reference to H.D. Thoreau’s Walden)

Well, I certainly hear my own drummer if you get my drift. 😀 😉

What a brilliant reply. Yes, i do 🙂

A cemetery gardener! What a great idea! The serenity!!
PS sorry you are catching a cold on the first day of spring break. 🤒🤧

At least you wouldn’t have any complaints from the residents! Feel better soon, N. Fritz!

My bf makes that joke all the time! He lives across the street from the central cemetery and he tells people “I’ve got the quietest and most famous neighbors in Vienna!” (Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, the Strauss dynasty, Falco)

          • Emsthemonster April 12, 2019 / 4:15 pm

Wow, nice neighbours and they definitely aren’t planning to move away any time soon.
Hm I didn’t even know Falco was dead. ( If you mean one of the pop stars of my childhood)
When I was on holiday in Vienna, my friends suggested visiting Zentralfriedhof. Unfortunately the weather was really bad so we skipped it, but if I go to Vienna next time I will definitely visit it.

Do people walk by and say “where’s that music coming from” and you say “oh that’s just Mozart and/or Beethoven… they’re decomposing.

Oh for heavens sake Dulcie. 😀

Thanks, Dulcie! I’ve wanted to change careers for a while now and even know of someone who would take me on as an apprentice. Unfortunately, I’d need to change my residency status and take probably an 80% pay cut to make it happen.

I can relate, doggo! I made the mistake of going through a craft store last night (which I rarely do because I am so *not* crafty and am not really good at any of it) because I was looking for some materials and easy projects for wood burning (a new hobby that I’m trying, mainly so I can make some signs to hang in our woods). I think I spent an hour in there saying “Ooh, I should try THAT!” with hubby behind me probably rolling his eyes the whole time, haha!

I did see something I think I can probably manage- it’s two small pieces of wood hinged together, and there was a heart with initials burned into one side, with a photo of a couple attached to the other side. I bought the materials, and I might try to make that for my niece who was recently married.

So, so many things I want to do. When the pantomime book is complete I want to finish a couple of contributions to the two publications of the Oscar Wilde Society, then a book of poetry. My ultimate goal is a fantasy novel. Art-wise I’m dying to try collage and acrylic paint pouring.

Julia, maybe you and I could discuss that fantasy novel…

It’s an idea that’s been rattling around in my head for years – late 19th century English fairies with steampunk overtones.

        • dubravkamcvmd April 13, 2019 / 8:11 am

That sounds wonderful! I would read that!

If you would like to at least chat about it, Mike has my email.
