Happy Caturday! Reader JEC returns with Mrs. Hattie Perkins, writing: “Astonished by her popularity, Mrs. H. P., saucy thing that she is, wonders if her new-found friends might be interested in some fun facts about her lineage. For instance – she is descended from walruses (on her mother’s side), and lasagnas (on her father’s side).”

I love Mrs. Hattie Perkins’ perpetually furrowed brow! And her walrus impression is second to none… goo goo ga joob indeed!
What a sweetie!! And she does very good impressions, her lasagna must be a rarely seen alfredo version with sausage.
Not much going on this weekend, it the weather stays clear I may attempt to start work on clearing out our back yard. The weeds are taking over and I don’t know what some of them are but they kinda look similar to pot plants. Want to get those out before I get raided, lol. Once that’s done, I going to put down sod and see if I can get a actual lawn rather than something that looks like a cratered moon.
Still have my handsome foster kitty, Kemuri-san. Since it’s kitten season, I’m suspecting the shelter is a little overwhelmed and any plans for him are on the back burner. That’s okay with me as long as I can get him adopted to a new home before July when we leave on vacation. Funny story of the week, I call it “Attack of the Killer Shorts”. I had left a pair of shorts on the bathroom floor, the kind with a drawstring. And you know cats can’t resist any type of string, yarn, etc. So Kemuri starts playing with it, somehow gets it stuck on his claw. Next thing I know, he decides to bolt down the hall. But the shorts are still attached, and following him down the hall. ROFLMAO. Poor baby, it looked like he was being chased! Found my shorts 20 minutes later in the bedroom, between the wall and the nightstand. Thankfully, he wasn’t traumatized by this episode.
Happy weekend everyone!
Silly Kemuri! And despite his experience, he will do the same thing again!
Good morning and happy Caturday!
Guess what I’m doing this weekend! I’m NOT working on my bathroom!!!!! There are just small things left, like caulking the baseboards and the tub skirt where they meet the floor. So I’m deliberately letting these tasks sit for a weekend or two.
The shower is fully functional as well as beautiful. I took my first shower in it on Wednesday night. Full water pressure; easily adjustable temperature; bright lighting; refinished and completely clean bathtub. It was glorious! If someone can remind me how to post photos, I’ll send some.
Since I’m not working on the bathroom, I’ve got fun plans: shopping, lunch with a friend, pick up my last Garden in a Box, then designing cowls from my handspun yarn for a spin-along I’m running in June. Tomorrow, I’ll be cooking and baking for much of the day. It will be glorious.
Congrats on the new bathroom! Doesn’t it feel good using it, with everything working
as you want it to?!?!! Gives one wonderful satisfaction, knowing you did it. You
should shout at the ceiling, “I did this! Yes, I did! Whoo Hoo!” Go on, loud enough
so we can hear you!
I am so amazed by your stick-to-it-tiveness, Deb G! If I can’t complete a project in one day, I probably won’t finish it, ever. My project du jour is making gnocchi from purple potatoes. I also graded a leaving exam, wrote a letter of recommendation, and went on a short shopping excursion. Life is full!
Oh yes please send pics of the new bath! and congrats on finishing it. 🙂
I am so impressed! And thrilled for you, too!
Wow, I’m tired just reading about your plans but you rock Debg with finishing that bathroom. And yes, pictures please!!! The bathroom sounds spalike, here’s to many years of enjoying it.
Mrs. H.P. remains lovely and buxom. It’s nice to see an interspecies relationship that succeeds in producing such a beautiful kitty.
After one of the busiest weeks I’ve ever had at work, I’m making sure to do some fun and relaxing things this weekend. Going to a few garage sales this morning, then doing a little weeding (not fun, per se, but kinda mindlessly meditative, if you know what I mean). If the sun stays out this afternoon I might forego the weeding and take my new camera lens to the park to try it out. I’ve been neglecting my new hobby, wood burning, so I might do a little practice with that later. And tomorrow I’m going shopping with my mom, assuming (fingers crossed) that she’s feeling well enough to do so. I hate to tell people she’s been doing well because I don’t want to jinx her, but let’s just say we haven’t been to the hospital in almost 6 weeks now.
Mrs. H-P is beautiful! We, too, had a kitty that was descended from walruses (walri?) and she was the sweetest chunky girl ever.
Great that Mom feels good enough for some retail therapy!
Great news to hear about your mom. I know retail therapy always perks me up. Just spent a couple hours at our local Goodwill, love my bargins!
Goodwill is a good source for bargains in clothes, for sure. We have a
couple of good thrift shops in my area, with the bonus that the charities
they fund benefit victims of violent crime and women’s shelters. Makes
shopping guilt-free!
Miz. Perkins is blobularly lovely. I weighed myself this morning, and I feel that we may be kindred spirits.
But the weight part is about to change for me, although I will always love cats of any shape.
(Drum roll please)
Duckie is thrilled to announce (but too tired to demonstrate) that the doctors agree that she is entering REMISSION! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Naturally this was accompanied by serious warnings of future behaviour and consequences, but still: for now, I’m good!
Still on the meds regime, but if future blood work remains stable, those meds can be reduced.
We are going out tonight with my best friend and her husband to celebrate. 🎉💐👍🏻💞
Next week, I have a rather unique appointment. My doctor referred me to someone who deals with the disabled, and who has government knowledge of unadvertised disability benefits. My osteoarthritis goes back to 2003, so I am hoping some of the benefits are retroactive to then. If not, at least the future could be rosier.
So things are looking much better for Duckie. I hope the rest of you have something good coming to you, too.
Happy day! 😊
SOOOO happy to read that things are looking up for you, Duckie! Don’t want to jinx anything, but YAYYYYYY! Hooray for Duckie! Duckie’s our hero! We love you, Duckie!
Yay Duckie! Congrats. Such good news. 🙂
Wonderful news! So happy to hear it!
CONGRATULATIONS, DUCKIE! Yes, I’m yelling, all the way from NYC. HUZZAH!
That is wonderful news!!!!
we’ll me lifting a glass with you and hubbie tonight!!
Duckie, you rock. You even ragnarokaquokka! Such great news.
Yipee!!! Glad to hear good news from your side of the pond Duckie.
So happy to hear your good news, Duckie. May it continue on the upswing forever!
Once again I’ve been Mia – we went away last weekend for a music festival, had a wonderful time.mthen work hit as soon as I got home – continuing illustration work – and I haven’t had time to do anything else. Part of it is I’m still experiencing fatigue from the bout of flu I had. My garden is neglected, as is the house and the weather is warming up. Sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth it to do work. I wish I made enough to get help in the garden, will have to bite the bullet at some point.
I will look forward to reading everyone’s news, plans, etc.
I’m a little late to the game, Duckie, but that is fantastic news! If I had some confetti, I would be throwing it!
Excellent news! Shout it from the rooftops!
I am hoping that the Big Pharma company that provides me with the drug that is keeping my
inoperable cancer at bay approves me again for another year free of charge. This drug goes
for $10K a MONTH! There is no way I can afford this. I am waiting to hear from them, having
provided them with my financials. *sigh* This something that is no fun to think about at three AM.
Pray for me if you are so inclined. Couldn’t hoit.
Phred’s Mom, I am absolutely praying/crossing my fingers/sending positive mojo into the universe that your treatment is approved! I can’t understand why medicine that is necessary for life can be withheld or made so exorbitantly expensive that it can’t be obtained. I have a friend in Austria who was diagnosed in March with breast cancer. She’s had the tumor removed, but she needs radiation. There isn’t an appointment open in the whole country until mid to late June. If y’all would pray for her, also, I will pass on your well wishes. Peace!
Oh, such a long time gap between diagnosis and treatment! Unconscionable, verging on
evil. Is there any way she can leave Austria and go elsewhere? I have a spare room and
the folks who have been treating me are very very good and caring. Drawback is, she
would have to pay for treatment. I will send my most positive wishes for her. And put on
the new sheets and bedspread.
so kind of you, PhredsMom! my friend/colleague will not fly, so I think treatment options are limited. but I will pass on your well wishes!
Well wishes indeed! Hopefully an appointment will turn up before then.
Phed’s Mom and N. Fritz – sending positive vibes out into the universe for both of you. PM, here’s hoping you get approval from the pharma company and NF, fingers crossed your friend can get in for radiation sooner, maybe someone will cancel.
Phredsmom – crossing fingers toes and saying prayers for you and your good health and continued medical support.
Prayers and feathered hugs coming your way.
I’m very much hoping the drug company continues to help you.
Bibi and I send good mojo your way, Phredsmom, and to your friend, N. Fritz!
Thanks muchly, all you kind people.😢
Keeping everything crossed, and sending kitty purrs your way.
Oh, Phred’s Mom, I certainly hope your meds continue as needed. I agree with N. Fritz, it is unconscionable that meds can be out of reach to someone who is sick and desperately needs them. It’s such a tipsy turkey world.
Good Afternoon! I’ve been lazy and have been knitting a light scarf all morning with yarn I’ve had for at least a dozen years. Probably started at least that many different projects and haven’t been thrilled with any of them. This time, I’ve said to my self – “SELF! see this one through to the end already! You’ll probably like it and even if you don’t, you can always take it apart again.” Which, let’s be honest, I probably won’t.
I need to go to the nursery and get tomato plants. Last weekend was too stormy for that. I also need to put in a raised bed because I received a bunch of Egyptian walking onion bulbs in the mail. These are very cool! We got some in our farm share last week and not knowing what in the heck they were we looked them up. The seem very easy to grow so I’m taking a crack at it.
Mrs. H.P. you are absolutely a Beauty Queen! Lovely to see you on Caturday again. I have to say fellow Cutetropolitans, I love, LOVE, meeting all of your Caturday furbabies.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
I am trying to picture an Egyptian onion sauntering around Philly. My brain can’t do it. Tell us more, pliz.
Wikipedia told me more. You are wise to put them in a raised bed, ‘cause they
are perennial and will walk and spread. They sound like fun. I wish I had the pep
to garden and have some of these myself.
“Walk like an Egyptian…”
Walk like an Egyptian onion. . .
Fascinating! Would these be considered invasive in certain circumstances? I’m not a gardener, though I’m happy to say I’m no longer the Instant Kiss of Death to all plants. I have some potted plants on my windowsills that have lasted several years—a personal victory.
Anyone else have an urge to call matchingks for those two pictures?
Mrs. Hattie Perkins is a stunning hybrid. Never before have aquatic mammals and Italian comfort food been so perfectly matched!
Faye here! Getting back to weekend thread. I’ve been lurking but glad to attend in time to send prayers to Phredsmom and congratulations to Duckie.
And a special wink to dubravkamcvmd!
Millie and I are fine! Needed a hiatus to work on even more detailed mental health improvement. Doctor is considering that I am an interesting combination of premature birth brain trauma, agoraphobia, ptsd, high functioning autism, dyspraxia (google it!) and a touch of low on the spectrum of DID (google again!). Finally getting specific at 67! Putting pieces together that go back to birth and age 3. Geeze! A big sigh of relief that extends back in time to answer soooo many questions!
Out of all that I have been posting my artwork on a Facebook women’s ptsd/art group! Finding women who do art about/and to relieve trauma is amazing. My peeps!
And… I made a friend through the group who lives 2 hours away from me. We hit it off and I am hostessing her for a 24 hour visit Sunday and Monday. Art/webpage collaboration.
Lasagna kitty is my kind of cat. Love BIG catses!
Will update!
Faye, it’s great to have you back. We’ve missed you.
Thank you all.
Welcome back, Faye! I’m sorry you had to wait so long to get some of the help you wanted, but it’s truly wonderful how much you have done for yourself. I’m not sure it’s really never too late to have a happy childhood, but it’s certainly never too late to find happiness.
No wonder your doctor finds you interesting! I’m glad you find it interesting too, and enlightening.
Uh…feeling a little uneasy about the lasagna I had for lunch the other day…
Yay for remissions and nearly-finished bathrooms, fingers crossed for medicine help and therapies and knitting projects…
Not much going on here. I slept way too late. I work Monday then I’m off until Memorial Day. A week after that we finally have a new person starting at work! He graduates college this month then has a family vacation planned and they’re having him start after the month-end closing. It will be nice to finally get a few things off my plate that I took on when the last guy left just after Christmas (the reason I can’t take Monday off – too much to do and not enough people to do it).
Anyway, in honor of the end of Big Bang Theory (he looks kinda like Howard in cat form)…
He looks like Moe Howard in cat form.
LOL
No, it’s Eddie Munster in feline form!
Maybe it’s Moe Munster? What a darling little kitkat.
Yes what a sweet little Moe Munster!
And prayers and all kinds of good vibes for everyone out there this weekend but especially Duckie and Phred’s Mom. You are brave and strong!
And Faye – same thing goes for you! That’s quite an unweildy and scary sounding diagnosis. Hugs.
Ha!
HP sauce!
I see what she did there, clever girl!
