When you see those floofy paws, and those tiny teeth
Remember there’s a killer lurking underneath
They’re cute when they’re young, and we sigh and moan
Now imagine them grown.
But wait! There’s more tiger cub action!
Phred’s Mom shares this video of a tiger cub getting her first check-up.
Six Flags Great Adventure is near me! I could go see her!
Me too! I’ll bring the steaks and you can hold the bag! j/k
And that’s the end of my functioning brain for the day…. good grief so cute!
The actual murder mittens are not so mini.
Please please can I have that job? I would love to be chuffed at and nuzzled by a tigger.
Incoherent babbling, like Tara just done for the day. And when she leans into his face, ded.
A tiger cub leaning its face against mine? I would have fainted dead away.
Missed it, Did mom reject this adorable little tot?
First time Mom Nadya stopped letting cubby nurse.

Tiger cub is adorable.
Sorry to nuff, but personally I don’t think amusement parks should be housing wild animals and making them perform. Even reputable zoos such as those of the Wildlife Conservation Society make me a bit sad these days, but at least they are working with a better track record and a commitment to species and environmental conservation. I hope this little cub grows up to have a happy life someplace other than Six Flags. (My two cents; your mileage may vary.)
I love Mike’s poem!
Does it say they have to perform? My work blocks imgur.
I don’t think it says so on imgur, but I’ve done my own websearch on Six Flags’ record. You should feel absolutely free to allow for my personal bias in evaluating my comment. It may well have skewed my research. In any case, it’s not the tiger cub’s fault—baby Carli is absolutely adorable, especially the chuffing and nuzzling. The size of those paws gives me pause, though. 😉
Great Adventure has a drive-through safari park. Can’t say anything about how well-run it is; I haven’t been there in years (not since I was a kid). I will say, it used to be you could drive your own car through but I believe now you ride a vehicle driven by a park employee, which I imagine is at least safer for the animals (and your car; there used to be a bypass to avoid the baboons and they warned you not to drive through that part if you were in a soft-top convertible, because they will climb on your car). I don’t know if the animals are still able to get close to the vehicle. Unless things have changed, there are no animal performances in the safari park (there are, or at least were, dolphin shows in the main park, though).
At one Six Flags park I visited about 20 years ago, there was a tiger demonstration in which the tigers didn’t do tricks as such, but they did engage in behaviors such as diving into the water for treats, standing up for a milk bottle, and just random roughhousing with their keepers. Definitely no coercion involved.
However, they also had an elephant ride, which is regarded as not cool these days. I don’t know if they still do. (Update: The park, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA, no longer has any elephant attractions, according to website.)
Those tiny teeth don’t look especially murdery at the moment either.
Neither do puppy or kitten teeth—till they sink those tiny needles into you. 🙂
Ok maybe I’ll just perform the post-meal massage part, be on the opposite side of her business ends 🙂
That is a great photo.Seems kitty-kat has learned “puppy dog eyes” already!
Using tigers to do tricks arguably keeps them engaged countering boredom, and exposes them to the public to raise awareness.
