Cat Splash Failure

Hidden among the grasses of the vast African savanna, the hungry lioness eyes her prey. She has shrewdly chosen this location by the watering hole, where animals must come to drink, and now as the succulent bird swoops down, she will reap the rewards of her patience and cunning with… a nice swim.

Don’t miss the response of Cat No. 2, who watches in appalled fascination until the first splashes of water reach him/her.

That was one of the funniest videos I’ve seen. Didn’t even see the cat come out of the tubes as I was paying attention to the cat walking thinking that’s the one to to go after the bird. Boy was I wrong.

I’ve watched it maybe eight or nine times. So many questions! Was the cat hiding in the tubes, waiting for a bird to fly by? Was it a spur of the moment attack? Has it had success with this approach in the past? I saw a video of a cat in a garden leaping maybe six to eight feet in the air bringing a bird down so they can do this.

I loved the shapes the cat’s body took during flight but also as it ran towards the camera after emerging from the water.

🤣🤣 At first, I missed from where that cat came from. Sorry cat lovers (I do like them) but this time, I was for the birdie. I didn’t realize cats “high jumped” to catch a birdie. I thought they crouched down, wiggled butts and then sprang at target.

That bird looked almost as big at the cat!

I think that was a crow and crows are SMART. I wouldn’t be surprised if the crow was taunting the cat and in doing so had the biggest win in it’s crow taunting career!

Hmmm. That really was a large black bird. I always think of the video I saw of crows living in a city. They learned what traffic lights were. They would drop nuts onto the crosswalk and wait for cars to drive over and crush the shells. When the light was red for the cars they would walk out onto the crosswalk and pick up the nuts with the crushed open shells.

OMG. I had to watch this several times to see where that cat came from. Impressive leap and body contortions. Hilarious scrambling out of the water while shaking the hind legs. Cat’s gonna have a hard time living that one down in the neighborhood. 😹

I keep singing the title to the tune “Cat Scratch Fever” in my head.
