That Enigmatic Koala-ty

The Myron T. Shplorndheim Gallery of Accidental Renaissance Art is pleased to announce the acquisition of Hindryck Blatzberg’s I Thought This Was the Contessa di Rubini (1621). Painted during a period in which the artist was drinking heavily, Blatzberg had been commissioned to paint the Italian noblewoman but instead stumbled into the Florence Zoological Gardens and painted a koala.

He did capture my mysterious smile, I think.

Morning All! Looks like we are off to a late start– I have sleepy eyes like ‘Venus de Koala’ here– any one else? (And I love Accidental Renaissance posts.)

“Paint me like one of your Australian girls.”

FKA – I’m off today so definitely off to a late start. But I have a dentist appointment in a few hours so I gotta get going soon. Little nervous because my dentist is retiring and I don’t know if he’ll still be there (his letter from a month or so ago said something about transitioning over the next few months) but I’ll presumably at least meet the people who are taking over the practice. I’ve been going to this practice literally all my life (first his dad, then him and his brother, who passed away in January) so it’ll be weird. I hope I like them because I don’t really want to have to find a new dentist (even though they’re not the most convenient location for me these days).

Good luck at the dentist Allein; I was at mine a couple of weeks ago and it went smoothly.

I love Accidental Renaissance! This pic definitely koalafies. Despite the mixup I am enchanted by the lady’s countenance.

And with spell check no one has to remember how to spell Renaissance anymore! Unless the net goes down!

Such a beauty! And so Rubenesque!

And I may have had an early start but I still feel so behind. I have a new foster that’s keeping me on my toes – a five month old hua hua named Koda. I swear, he’s a little energizer bunny, very rarely slows down. I’ll see if I can attach a picture..Nope. I’ll send to Mike for him to post.

Ok, ok. I’ve made a Flickr album https://www.flickr.com/photos/183492261@N07/albums/72157710706574982. Say hola! to Koda. I’m fostering for my co-worker’s niece. She moved into a place that technically doesn’t allow pets but she’s trying to work something out with the landlord. He’s probably going to stay with me for about 2 months.

            He’s so cute!

So I went to the dentist – last exam ever from the family of dentists I’ve been seeing literally all my life 😢. He retires at the end of September so I’m glad I got to wish him well. Met one of the new doctors (it’s a married couple but only the wife was there today); she seemed very nice, and the hygienist told me all of the staff are staying, so that makes me feel better.

Then I went to Barnes & Noble where I got to pet a little pup named Georgia (a tiny golden-blonde Yorkie, I think) and then I went to Target when I got to pet a … I’ll guess a Beagle or something like that…. Went a few other places and in between two of them is a PetSmart so I wandered in there to look at kitties (as I am wont to do) and almost got to pet a puppy (Jack Russel, maybe?) but he wouldn’t stay still long enough. Now I just got home and stopped for a turkey and provolone sub cuz I’m starving!
