Today is World Octopus Day, in which we pay special attention to these amazing and often clever creatures. Although this shy little octopus spotted by the researchers watching the Nautilus Live feed probably wants a little less attention.
Spotted by Andrew Y.
I LOVE octopuses, and this one is extra lovable.
This little guy has a lot to learn from Otto the German octopus.
His keepers also refused to turn off the light at night, and so Otto squirted water at the light bulb. This caused a short circuit and turned off most of the electricity in the lab. They had to take turns sleeping in the lab to figure out what was causing the repeated short circuits.

Antics aside, messing with the circadian rhythm of any creature is bound to stir their wrath, and they will get back at you.
Holy smokes, Otto is my kindred spirit! 😀
Amazing and clever. Yes!
Are those ears or wings?!?!
Have yous read The Octopus and the Orangutan? https://www.amazon.com/Octopus-Orangutan-Intrigue-Intelligence-Ingenuity/dp/0452284112
I squealed out loud at the cuteness. Octopi are so cool.
Such a cutie.
I have seen this several times but I just LOVE it! 💜 Octopods are so clever and this one is especially cute!🐙
Last week I saw an episode of the PBS show “Nature” entitled “Octopus: Making Contact.” Fascinating! Further proof that PERSONality doesn’t apply to just us hoomans. 😊
The scientists onboard the Nautilus always geek out over the cute sea creatures in such an endearing, nerdy way ….. I think they are my people. I have enjoyed countless hours of Nautilus footage on youtube!!!!
this is so redonkulously cute!
