Watch a bawling baby bear get bailed from a bin!
How a bear cub got stuck in a trash bin, one can only guess, but the unbearable question for the rest of the family is: How’s he going to get back out? While mama paces outside, the determined sibling looks for a solution. But help arrives at last, as Mr. Ranger (all right, Mr. Sheriff) shows up with a ladder to bail the baby out.

I’m not sure there’s anything truly cute or funny about this, but I’m certainly impressed with the resourcefulness of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department. They kept the bear safe and themselves safe, all without recourse to weaponry of any kind.
It certainly pulls at my heartstrings.

Hearing that baby crying gave me all the feels… lort. I’m so glad they resolved it so well!
And this is why all dumpsters need to be locked down and made bear proof. Thankfully baby bear got out fine and no deputies were injured helping it out.
Aw, poor baby! Hopefully he will learn to not be too curious around those big boxes..

Nobody puts Baby in the corner!
This past Sunday I rescued a family of raccoons from the dumpster at my apartment building. Fortunately there is a small wooded area nearby so I was able to find a small log, drag it home, and angle it in the dumpster as an escape route. They were scared, of course, so I went back inside and checked back a short time later; they were gone…success!
