Maya Polar Bear! I love Maya! Such a smiley sweetheart.
I was saving this for the weekend but…
Will look at other links in a bit.
I don’t even have to watch the video. Just seeing that face is the answer to “Why you need a dog”.
Yes, but you should watch it anyway. 😉
Rescued fighting dogs story made my office very dusty.
F#&! Michael Vick and all his cohorts.
I could only read part of the story–don’t want to lose it at work. And I concur with your sentiments re Vick.
Yeah, I took a couple breaks.
I just went through the slideshow (What? I’m supposed to be working?) and one of them was rescued by Roo Yori, who was on American Ninja Warrior. His backstory always focused on his work with dog rescue (he and his wife started a foundation) and the show even surprised him with a big donation a couple years ago. He usually has a dog on the sidelines when he runs, too. (I don’t think they mentioned that at least one of his rescues was a Vicktory dog; though it looks like that dog died before he started competing on ANW.)
I so needed some wombattery this morning! Mister Magoo is a chonker!
Love the cat jobs and rescue kittens, as always. And Maya Polarbear stole my heart ages ago.
Thank you for sharing the updates on the Vicktory dogs. I had seen the documentary on them a few years back and it was good to see how far the majority had come after rescue. I was sniffling thru most of the article but what turned on the water works was the description about one of the dogs: Had nightmares so I used to lay my head in his kennel and sing to help him go to sleep. After about 2 years the nightmares stopped and now he dreams, with his feet running and tail wagging. I’m so glad so many were able to find love and the ability to just be a dog before they died.. The documentary is called “The Champions” and used to stream on Netflix. Highly recommend watching it but be warned, it can be a tough watch sometimes.
I’ll catch up on the other links later.
Someone posted the trailer for that in the article comments (I’ll have to watch it later):
That video is so difficult to watch but well worth the time and tears. To think that almost everyone wanted to victimize those dogs yet again, after having survived hell on earth. Michael Vick should burn in Hell but at least he focused attention on something that hadn’t been talked about very much. 😈
Thank you, Maya polar bear, for being so adorable and such a little goofball – just what I needed! ❤❤❤
