High-Wire Maru

Today’s experiment in Maruology will attempt to measure Maru’s and Hana’s ability to maintain balance, starting with a wide plank and progressing to a thin strip of wood. It’s an easy catwalk until the last stage, when Hana drops out. But no matter how often he falls, Maru is determined to cross the narrowest beam. Will his chances be slim… or none?

Sender-inners Diane & Andrew Y. already know the answer.

Hana: looks at 1.9 cm beam “Nope!”

Did he do that one multiple times or does mugumogu just have multiple cameras going?

Hana was very vocal in this one. I really wish someone could translate…

The Flying Wallendas have nothing on our fluffy boy! You could really see the determination on his face – while Hana was like, “Whatever.” ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

He certainly can! Those big mitts of his were gripping on for dear life but he did it. ๐Ÿ˜ป

I really thought Hana would win this one. Forgive me Maru, how could I ever doubted youโ€™re capable of such physically astonishing feats?!

Such an enriched life these two lead!

I’m with Dulcie, their staff certainly does come up with plenty for them to do. After the first couple of beams, once they were flush with the tops of the end platforms, I couldn’t tell what was holding them up. I don’t see that the blog linked to proves he did it more than once (“He failed many times, but he accomplished it at last!” could mean only once), but he HAD to, didn’t he? We’d have seen the other cameras! I’m still not sure what motivates them; I didn’t see any treats on the far platform. But what amazes me most is — they didn’t look at their feet. I’d look at my feet if I was trying to do that. They may look at the beam, but if so, it’s far ahead. They go purely by kinesthetic sense — they know without looking where their body is and where the beam is.
