Maru gets a present: a brand new futon mattress just his size, complete with matching pillow. After some encouraging assistance from his mama, Maru tucks himself in for a relaxing nap. But Hana wants to play, and soon the cat’s out of the bag.

Do we really think the two of them could fit in there at the same time? Maybe if the second one backed in (rather than go in head first and turn around) but I bet no cat would do that (it’d ruffle their fur up backwards). I wonder if Hana ever used it while Maru wasn’t in it. I feel sorry for her not having one even though she may not WANT one. As for Maru — it’s the warmest box he’s ever been in.
Also, all this time I thought a futon was a sofa that doubles as a bed (not that folds out INTO a bed — that’s a sofa-bed). Turns out the first definition is a Japanese quilted mattress that goes on the floor.
It looks to me like some of the the fur on Maru’s rear was shaved off, and there is a mark or two? Is that something I missed before?
