Maru and the Midnight Moan

It was midnight. The living room carpet glowed in the light of the full moon. I said good night to Hana and crawled into my sleeping bag. Then things got quiet. Real quiet. Too quiet. I heard the howl of a devil dog in the distance, a raging cry full of anguish and hunger. Fortunately, I was able to maintain my composure. At least that’s what I’m telling everybody.

We won’t tell anyone, Andrew Y.

No, clearly it was a ferocious beast!

(Okay, I would have thought it was a chair squeaking against the wood floor or something if they didn’t tell me it was a dog.)

A paper bag and a tinfoil hat are all you need to stay safe, physically and mentally.

My favorite part is Hana, early in the video, sitting there looking aloof while Maru is burrowed into the bag. “Don’t know him. Never saw him before. No idea why he’s doing that. Would never be associated with that sort of irregular behavior.”
