In the dark of night, while the human world slumbers, there unfolds an alien ritual that few have seen and fewer still dare describe. In unsuspecting human homes they gather to worship the five lights that symbolize the suns that warm their homeworld of Alpha Catauri. There they offer their prayer to the Ancient Celestial Travelers that they may one day be found worthy of return.

Mothra! At least!
I wonder where the human servants stay during the ritual.
I assume they normally wait until the humans go to sleep.
They’re in the kitchen, preparing the post-ritual feast.
If they know what’s good for them.
I think you’re right.
I’m 60 today, and I’m celebrating by watching cats perform an occult ritual…
Alice Shortcake, Happy Birthday!ššš
Happy birthday!
Sounds like a good birthday!
Many happy returns of the day!
There’s worse ways to spend a birthday. And many happy returns!!
Thanks, all! My real birthday treat will be a performance of one of my favourite operas, ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, at Leeds on Saturday.
Happy Birthday Alice! I wish you a wonderful year. š
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday Alice!!!
Happy Birthday, Alice! šš
Happy Birthday!šš¾
Happy Birthday, and that seems like a good celebration!
Happy day, Alice! Sounds like a normal day in our house!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your Opera treat!
This gave me the biggest fit of the giggles. Very appropriate story to go with the picture. And if you click thru to Imgur, the headline there is just as funny – “I think my cats started a cult”.
Alpha Caturi – snerk. I love how one of the cats is up on their hind legs, and all of them are just so focused/entranced by the lights. Bravo Mike, one of your best posts.
It had me snort-laughing at the scroll-down! Cats!š¤Ŗ
I mean, what could possibly be drawing this avid attention? Perching mice? Hanging fish? The missing feather toy? Iām clueless!
Iām guessing a flying insect. Maybe the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Even I would look at the Flying Spaghetti Monster with full reverence.
Happy birthday Alice. Your “real” treat sounds like it will be a very enjoyable affair.
And what in the world has the alpha caturians so enthralled? A mouse or a fly/moth in the light fixture?
MOTHS! Sheesh! That is the perfect answer!šš¼
Shhhhh!
The High Priest has donned the cosmic holy stardust collar and gloves (and socks) and is about to address us.
“Today’s message is based on the third song from the second side of the first epistle ZIGGY STARDUST….”
And now my giggles have re-started. And I think Ziggy Stardust is a very appropriate album for these followers. I wonder if they are Orthodox or Reformed? As long as they’re not Baptist, otherwise the ritural will go on for hoouuurs.
Happy birthday, Alice.
