My love gave me a valentine
And said “sweet hamster, please be mine
Accept my token of affection
And love me true without rejection”
But deep inside my skeptic’s soul
I saw no heart, but just a hole
Where once a yummy treat resided
“Call this a gift?” I soon derided
“Give me a hole? That takes some gall!
I want the whole or none at all!”
My greedy pride could stand no more
With angry teeth I slashed and tore!
But then I paused; What did I do?
I’d ripped her precious gift in two!
I thought myself so proud and smart
But fool I was, I broke her heart

Turns out hamsters have adorable squinchy chew faces. Who knew?
We should have been able to guess from their stuffed-pouch photos earlier this week. I was laughing so hard I cried.
Bravo, bravissimo, to Not That Poet The Other Poet!
OMG this is just so cute and so amazing and so clever and a whole bunch of sweet and and and I am speechless.
Oh and I forgot…”take that negative space” 🤣🤣
Adorable.
That owner doesn’t deserve that adorable dog. (But none of us does.)
