Maru’s Manicure

Maru understands the importance of good grooming, and so today he and Hana head off to the nail salon for a much-needed manicure, which includes not only trimming the nails but the unsightly toe floof as well.

Hana is a bit more squeamish so she looks away, but soon she too is neat and trim.

Now Maru’s more pointless than ever, Andrew Y.

Any other cats on the planet would have shredded their owner if they had tried this.

Exactly. I’m astonished by what they allow Mugumogu to do. Any of it. I tried clipping nails once. There was a serious breach in relations for a while. I wouldn’t have been allowed to wipe faces either.

I can clip front claws on 3 of my cats. They do not like it and give me baleful looks. It takes at least 30 minutes for them to forgive me.

Mugumogu obviously has some special magic. Or she sedated them!

The trick is to do it while they’re alseep and groggy.

The downside of this is that you can only get a few toes done at a time, so you have to spread it out over several days.

I can’t believe how calm they are. Stars would never tolerate this.

Daisy permitted me to clean her eyes, but any attempt to trim her claws would have ended in a trip to A&E.

Either Maru is the most mellow cat who ever lived, or he’s just too lazy to protest.

Mookie and Mazzilli were pretty good at letting me trim their claws, but I think that was because I got them used to my handling them, including their feet, from the time I brought them home when they were ten weeks old. They were less cooperative about pilling, but I learned to get the job done. All told they were very mellow cats, so maybe I was just lucky!
