From The Cute Farmer’s Almanac

With warmer weather returning, now is the ideal time to plant toebeans in your garden. Toebeans should be planted at least three inches apart in direct sunlight. Water lightly, no more than once a week. Toebeans come in different varieties; the black toebean (pictured) has a heady licorice aroma, while the classic pink toebean smells like cotton candy.

It’s been too long since we’ve had toebeans, Andrew Y.

Everyone’s buying canned or dried beans these days, but toebeans really are best fresh.

I don’t much care for licorice, but I get a lot of gratification from the harvest. It involves a tiny bip-bop touch on the central bean.

That is such an amazing shoot coming out of that plant!! Can’t wait to see it bloom! Maybe it will be a pussy willow? Or a Cattail?

Ya know… I don’t remember seeing those seeds when I stocked up. Wish I had.

Must be my tastebuds or sense of smell but I find both the black and the pink toebeans to distinctly taste of corn chips.
