Bless you, Anna G! You’re really in the thick of it and you still have your kitties and your sense of humor!!
Ciao to Anna G, Cipi, and MiMi from me(me) and Bibi in New York! The kitties are very wise. We will follow their advice (and their example).
If the shape to maintain is “round” – I think I’ll be good. I’m really nervous about putting on non-elastic waist pants!
Ha ha me too Julie! 😁
Lovely kitties with great advice Anna G.
Stay safe and stay strong over there. My heart goes out to you all.
Hey, round is a shape!
Andrew Lloyd Webber is streaming musicals for free on YouTube, starting with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (with Donny Osmond! Who was apparently 42 when it came out…the man does not age, does he?) this weekend, and Jesus Christ Superstar (with Tim Minchin!!! 😍) next weekend. Each one starts Friday at 7pm (British time) and is available for 48 hours. I watched Joseph last night. That was a trip!

And for something a bit more meditative…
One lone cow (whose voice sounds decidedly like a cello) sings the “Going Home” theme from Dvořák’s New World Symphony. A pig and then a chicken are inspired to join in from afar.
A heartfelt small collaboration, created by Yo-Yo Ma and Sandra Boynton for Ma’s #SongsOfComfort which he began online in March 2020 as a way to offer solace to all.
wow, what a collaboration! <3 <3 <3
Here’s Ma talking about his Songs of Comfort on PBS.
Thanks Allein for the links… wonderful. And Cow Cow Ma is delightful!🐮 🎻
Tx Mike for this site. I have put the angst of yesterday behind me.
“Cow Cow Ma” 🤣
Glad you are doing better today.
Hugs, Dulcie.
Feels good. Tx 😁
If you’re of a ‘certain age’ you’ll always associate this music with a famous advert for Hovis bread, directed by the young Ridley Scott:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bkyx4-65inM
It was filmed not in the north of England but at Shaftesbury in Dorset!
That is lovely! Thanks!
Go to http://www.twitter.com and put #songsofcomfort in the search box. You’ll find all kinds of stuff…like this:
Bravo!
Thanks for the link!
Thank you Anna for posting from the front lines. Glad your kitties are there to help you through all this. Stay safe and well.
California has now highly recommending you wear face covers/mask when you go out to stores. It’s kinda weird seeing everyone with their faces covered. I guess since I don’t know anyone who’s sick, it still feels like I’m in a really bad dystopian sci-fi movie. I mean I’m bombarded with dire statistics and news from all the media, yet I walk out the door and spring has sprung, they’re still doing sewer repairs in my neighborhood, the buses are still running, grocery stores are still stocked etc. The only person I kinda know that’s passed possibly from the virus is a friend of mine’s uncle but Tio had just celebrated his 101st birthday.
In good news, since my neighborhood couldn’t do their usual monthly get-together, a husband and wife bagpipers gave a concert last night. They stood in the middle of one of the streets and we stood in our yards or up and down the sidewalk and enjoyed everyone’s company for about a 1/2 hour. They plan on doing these concerts twice a week on various blocks so everyone can be cheered up.
Not much going on here, still working remotely and making brief store runs for necessities. And taking lots of walks. One of farmer markets is still being allowed to run so I’m going to brave it to get some fruit and veggies for the week plus support our local farmers. As much as possible I’m trying to support some of our small local businesses that may be struggling right now.
All the best to my fellow Cutetropolians.
I feel the same way about the dire news reports vs the relatively normal-looking life in my immediate surroundings. Still worry every time my parents have to go out, but my mom got me a few things so I haven’t had to go to a store. (And then I feel bad/guilty about that.)
Saw this posted elsewhere:
I have a friend who is making masks for JoAnnes Fabrics that require sewing. This seems easier. She gave me one she made and I can barely breathe thru it, which is not helpful.☹️
I know exactly what you mean about life being like a bad dystopian sci-fi movie. Poorly written, badly directed, and full of ludicrous characters like this ‘Donald Trump’ bloke in a role that cries out for Morgan Freeman. And a credible British PM would at least comb his hair before appearing on TV.
In other news, the boredom of self-isolation at the Shortcakery was briefly dispelled last week when a van backed into the concrete bollard protecting the corner of the house next door (for the second time in two years). It’s a bit battered but a definite improvement on having a vehicle crash through your living room wall.
Finally, could someone please take action against stupid celebrities who give their support to potentially dangerous conspiracy theories and/or anti-scientific drivel? The sight of Gwyneth “Nothing natural can be bad for you” Paltrow wearing a mask and gloves suggests that she doesn’t really believe her own lucrative bull****, and Amanda “Virus is transmitted by electromagnetic waves” Holden needs to spend a couple of weeks mopping floors in a COVID-19 ward.
We live in the stupidest timeline. With some of the stupidest celebrities and leaders.
I’m glad the house next door has a bollard! A former BF lived in a house where someone once crashed into the walls. Into, but not through.
You are so right Alice. ☹️
Alice, I couldn’t agree more.
Anyone remember, like 20-25 years ago, when almost all the news/information that we got came from basically 3 sources: print (newspapers), TV and radio? And remember the good old days when all this information had to be fact checked by an editorial team? And if anything was mis-reported, the media source had to issue a retraction?
Now, literally anyone can become an expert and introduce ridiculous, sometimes panic inducing, meritless ideas.
I am quite tired of hearing from celebrities that we are “all in this together” when they are quarantining on 45 acre estates with 10 room mansions and most likely have a personal chef on site and access to every luxury.
I lived in NYC for 6 years many years ago. If I had to quarantine back then, it would have been 3 people (I had 2 roommates) sharing a ~ 900 sq ft makeshift 3 bedroom apartment (we put a fake wall in the living room to make a 3rd bedroom). The living room didn’t have a window. In order to leave the apartment, I would have to walk down a 100 ft hallway (enclosed space) to an elevator (enclosed space) or walk down 22 flights (enclosed space). Not knowing who had been in the space prior to me. Leaving the apartment would be anxiety inducing.
I really feel for the New Yorkers right now.
My place is about 830 sq ft but I live here alone. I can’t imagine being stuck here with two other people. At least when I go outside, I’m outside (though I do have to go down the stairs; I’ve been doing my best not to touch the railing.
Amen, Alice.
I think it’s great that CA is mandating face masks in public. I wish Ohio’s governor would do the same.
speaking of dystopian movies, does anyone here remember “On the Beach”? It is an excellent adaptation of Nevil Shute’s novel of the same name, not to be watched just yet, maybe in a year or so, I am serious, do not watch it just now.
That book scared the hell out of me.
I remember both. This goes feel a bit like that
I still say that “The Stand” is Stephen King’s scariest book. Didn’t help that I lived at Fort Dietrick, had to put it down and never picked it up again.
And yeah, it feels like we’re living in a bad version of “Surrogates,” not that it was a good movie to start with.
I read the book. But I loved the movie. I grew up having atom bomb nightmares from Duck And Cover. I never felt safe. I thought there would be a nuclear event in the Middle East. Never figured on a pandemic.
I think I picked up a copy of On The Beach in a used book bin, but I’ve never read it. you give me second thoughts…
I finally gave in and started to re-read ‘The Stand’ after finding my old copy in the loft. For some reason the only thing I remembered about it was the nuking of Las Vegas, which gives you an idea of how poor my memory is…
In other news, Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital after ten days in quarentine. I can’t stand the man but I hope he recovers.
Yeah, that last pic is me in response to “work out”.😉
Anna, your babies are beautiful! Why would you work when you could be playing with them?
Bad dystopian sci-fi, indeed. I’ve read a lot of the good stuff, and this is definitely not a good one. Time seems to pass so slowly and yet so quickly at the same time. Each day stretches on forever, and the weekend never comes, but then suddenly it’s early April. Kind of feels like Narnia in the The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe–always winter but never Christmas!
I need to venture out for groceries but just don’t have the energy. Since there’s still enough food for at least another day, maybe I’ll go tomorrow.
Despite my whinging, I’m doing okay. I have been exercising a lot more, which really does make me feel better. I’m making yarn and knitting a lot. I’m eating well. I’m re-watching some favorite shows, re-listening to beloved audiobooks, and re-reading favorite novels. And I don’t have to drive 110 miles each day! Stop whinging, Deb.
Stay safe, everybody.
Everyone seems a little more positive today. A little more calm. May I add to it?
I realized last night that most of my sore throat pain was actually from my jaw joint. That’s where I tend to carry my stress. So I changed up a few things, starting with a good cry. Had a hot milk, took pain killers, used some liniment on the jaw (getting some in my eyes as well) and went to bed. Made a few adjustments in how I chew and swallow this morning, and the pain is down by more than half.
Got an email from our strata council. There won’t be any changes in our fees without an owners’ meeting to vote on it, and they haven’t got all the information required to propose anything yet. So things may not change until the AGM in September, which is MUCH easier to cope with.
Our Canadian relief amount is supposed to arrive this week, along with hubby’s higher than expected pay raise (I’ll believe THAT when I see it).
I went for a short walk and saw cherry blossoms, hyacinths, daffodils and blue sky. Corona virus, you can’t stop Spring!
Did you hear that a couple had twins yesterday, and named them Corona and Covid?
Hope everyone has a day better than yesterday.
Duckie, I’m so glad your clouds have lifted! But oh, dear, I hope the twins thing isn’t really true; if it is, those poor children!
They’re in India. I knew I shouldn’t have googled that. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
Parents wanted names to be ‘memorable and unique’ after boy and girl born during nationwide lockdown.
https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/04/india-newborn-twins-named-corona-covid-virus-200404093616017.html
“The couple said there was pressure, however, from family elders and they could change their decision later and rename their children.” Here’s hoping, for the kids’ sake.
Yeah I wonder how many kids out there were named Bubonic way back when…🤔
Phew. Some good news Duckie. Hugs. And while we are having a second wave of winter here, in my mind’s eye I can see the blossoms!
Why would you do that to your children?
I’m not sure which is worse, being named after a beer or a pandemic?
All the best for all the Cutetropolians – try to avoid to be overwhelmed from the news, on TV every one is speaking about this thing, it is heavy to cope with. Just follow the rules, have a daily routine and slow down, day after day- with or without kittens💝
Does anyone else fear their groceries?
No one else has been in my house. I picked up some stuff from my parents’ house (Monday or Tuesday, I forget⁰) but otherwise nothing has come in from outside (except mail). The bread has been sitting here for several days. If anything was on it, it’s certainly not viable by now. Yet I’m still afraid to touch it.
⁰Thursday is when I officially lost track of what day it was when I woke up in the morning, for the record.
Yes, Allein, I have gone through several bouts of grocery fear. I still have grocery trepidation. But starvation is not a good choice. So here is advice I have taken on board, which has helped ME.
I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL OR SCIENTIST. PLEASE CHECK THIS ADVICE OUT FOR YOURSELF BEFORE FOLLOWING IT. SERIOUSLY.
Make a water and bleach solution and pour it in a spray bottle, to use as spray disinfectant. Wash your hands thoroughly, and use paper towels to dry them, if poss. Spray the outside of all your packaged groceries (not fresh fruit and veggies, I’ll get to those) thoroughly with the disinfectant. You can find detailed directions for making effective disinfectant with bleach and water online, so I won’t post them here. If you don’t have a spray bottle, you can makes a smaller batch of bleach solution and use a clean rag to wipe those things down. Wash your hands again, and dry them on paper towels if poss.
Go do something else for a while. When your groceries have had a chance to finish drying, make sure your hands are still clean and put the groceries away where they belong.
How to clean fruits and veggies, from someone I know who has lived and worked for a long time in Africa:
Start with clean hands, as above.
If you elect to clean your fruits and vegetables with chlorine bleach, do not use scented chlorine or color-safe bleaches. The University of Nebraska, USA, suggests using 1 1/2 teaspoons bleach (5.25% sodium hypochlorite) in one gallon of water. * Do not wash before storing. * Rinse just before using. (My contact said they used to leave the veggies in the water for a half hour.)
Clean your hands again, as above.
Find a part of your home that doesn’t smell so bleachy and read a book or something else non-food-related.
Trust that you have taken all reasonable precautions, and start making, eating, and storing leftovers from your now clean food. It’s always a good idea to wash your hands before, during, and preparing food, even in non-pandemic times, so that’s not new or weird or scary, just something we should all have been doing all along.
I still get anxious, but I’m also cooking and eating more and better than I have in years. So there’s that. 🙂
I hope this helps. If you can find alcohol, you can probably use that as disinfectant, but I found bleach and couldn’t find alcohol. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH RE HOW TO ADJUST FOR ALCOHOL.
Don’t use Lysol! Here’s a good article on how to disinfect stuff without harming yourself in the process. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/02/smarter-living/coronavirus-clean-home-house-disinfect.html
Thanks. I don’t think I have any bleach, though. Eventually I will have to venture out to shop but I am putting off as much as possible. I do need to make sure I eat. I have a tendency to not eat a lot when I’m home all day, which isn’t so bad when it’s just on weekends, but now…
My mom also got me two chicken breasts, which should feed me for four meals, and I have some canned/frozen veggies and some couscous, farro, and maybe some rice. Also have spaghetti and marinara and real parmesan (which I bought shortly before all this madness began).
I’m sorry about the bleach. By the way, the bleach solution apparently should be made in small batches, as it doesn’t keep well. I could have saved myself the trouble of buying a one-quart spray bottle, I guess, and stuck with my 12-oz one. Oh, well.
You can also use dish detergent (not dishwasher, the hand stuff) and water. Remember that scrubbing hands with soap and water is more effective than hand sanitizer, so dish soap and water is a lot better than nothing. My cousin (who is a scientist) said to soak stuff for half an hour, but obviously you can’t do that with stuff in cardboard (for instance).
You can put on disposable gloves, open boxes, and decant the contents into clean containers (or a clean bowl or plate as appropriate). Get rid of the boxes, get rid of the gloves, wash your hands, wash anything you touched while you had the gloves on, wash your hands again. Then you can finish re-packaging those things safely.
Here are some other cautionary tales from the NYT (about, sadly, candidates for Darwin Awards): https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/24/us/chloroquine-poisoning-coronavirus.html
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/24/well/live/dont-drink-the-hand-sanitizer.html
Okay, here comes some more important shouting.
NOTHING I POST ABOUT DISINFECTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AT FACE VALUE. I AM NOT AN EXPERT. Check the WHO and CDC for reliable information.
I did wash the milk jug and the chicken package with soap and water before putting them away. I guess I could do the bread bag but I can’t tell if there’s an inner sealed bag (not my usual brand, which does have an inner bag) and I was worried about water leaking into it, so I just left it sitting out of the way. When I opened a box of cereal I just took the bag out and tossed the box.
Ricky & Bibi’s Mom – I’m pretty sure everything you wrote about cleaning groceries is 100% sound. Everything I’ve read supports your cleaning tips. So maybe you ARE an expert!! LOL!
I, too, have read that plain soap and water kills the coronavirus. It has to do with how soap interacts with the virus’ outer membrane (It basically destroys it).
I am lucky enough to have a garage, so I have set up a table and I a clean everything before I bring it into the house.
So, yes Allein, I also fear my groceries!! 🙂
I’m really not an expert, Julie, and it’s terribly important to me that I make that clear whenever passing on advice that is potentially dangerous. I stand by the adage that free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it.
I do, as it happens, have rather a lot of medical professionals and scientists of various stripes in my family, as well as at least one friend whose head is considerably more level than mine. And I do follow my own advice about consulting the WHO and CDC and avoiding most “news” (though I sometimes give the New York Times the benefit of the doubt).
There is so much misinformation going around, and much of it is potentially lethal (see the links I posted above as potential Darwin Award-winners). Some of it actually comes from various government “leaders,” and not just American ones.
Even if I were a doctor or scientist, I’m not in a position to know the full background of every person reading what I write here. Context can be crucially important to the validity of advice. Hence all my ALL-CAPS warnings. I’d have a hard time living with myself if I found out someone relied on what I wrote and it played an active role in their illness, let alone their demise. I may have chosen to trust what my family and friends have told me, but that doesn’t give me the right to pass on that advice here without calling attention to my lack of expertise. I’m willing to offer advice, but not without a disclaimer.
The bottom line is that this is the internet, and readers have no way of knowing whether anything I say is true (paradoxically including this post) without their first checking demonstrably reliable sources for themselves.
Put another way: Caveat lector.
Play “Find the Kitty” here!
https://www.sadanduseless.com/find-a-cat-challenge/#more-87016
The “Find the Kitty” is a good one.Sure you arent interested?
7, 8, 10, and 20 stumped me. I’m a little embarrassed about 10, but not the others. I’m amazed I did as well as all that. Thanks for the challenge, Murkle46!
YW.
Some of them are mind numbingly difficult. Some the cat jumps out when you realize it’s a cat.
Anna, your cats obviously know how to quarantine expertly! One other important routine to have is a daily nap, so Lily and I have been practicing!
Boop!
Oh, I agree! love the nose
Such a kissable face …
Hi all! On top of everything else’s that’s going on, this week I also had to deal with a blizzard and an earthquake (I’m in Montana)! But that’s ok. Just woke up from a very nice, long, good night’s sleep so I’m feeling pretty perky. Now for coffee and breakfast! Last night I had my first Zoom call with 19 members of extended family on my mom’s side, which was great, and my face hurt afterwards from smiling.
I have to do a little work today, must catch up on my housecleaning and finally will get to hunker down with some good reading and maybe some artwork. I’m thinking of making something to put up in my windows to prettify the neighborhood a little bit.
Weather is supposed to slowly get warmer and more sunny over the next few days so hopefully I’ll be able to spend more time outdoors soon. A little fresh air and blue sky goes a long way.
As for how my cat Cricket is dealing with lockdown? All she cares about is loving the big heater in the living room being on more (I’ve dubbed him Ancalagon the Black and she generally spends most of her time paying homage before him on her pillow) and me being around to feed her more. Cats. LOL.
Happy Saturday!
Can’t the weather take a break?! A tornado destroyed one of my company’s stores in Alabama, too. Luckily there were only a few employees and three customers (a couple and their baby who came up just before it hit; the manager was at the door watching the sky when they came up and she let them in and and got everyone to the break room, which was about the only part where all the walls were still standing. No one was hurt). The pictures I saw show the metal beams of the ceiling frame with all the ductwork and other stuff hanging down like giant ribbons, and blue sky beyond.
Everybody sing!
I make my students learn Modern Major General as pronunciation practice. I will add this to their repertoire. Thanks, Allein!
Coming soon: alien invasion, specifically the three-eyed, seven-legged beings from the planet Aarglewaarb. But don’t worry, they won’t be staying longer than it takes to figure out how to use the internet.
Third time trying to post. 🙁 Glad anxiety is down.
Alice Shortcake mentioned Morgan Freeman. Please Google Electric Company “words.” There will be several, but one features a duet in a library, featuring a very young Mr Freeman.
Yay, it worked!!
omg you just made my day… “Please return smoking books with care” 😀

Digging those bell bottoms… am I showinf my age???
Allein, thanks for the links, I can’t seem to copy them on this tablet. Another favorite from the same series is The Menu Song.
Bell-bottoms are back, and I dig them, too. But sweater-vests can stay in the past for my money.
Since bread making is all the rage lately, apparently, here’s a recipe:

Aww… sweet geck ‘n dog!
Hi all. Well exactly where I live on Long Island, NY is the highest rising hotspot in NY State. And NY State/NYC is the USA epicenter.
I’m fine. I haven’t been out of the house since March 17. No social mingling since a doctor appointment March 12. I’ve passed two two week milestones.
Not to jinx myself but I’m convinced I had the virus already. I and my housemates were very very sick February 8-February 28 and into early March. I think the virus was circulating earlier in NYC and Long Island.
I had all the symptoms including the less well known ones: hearing loss, unusual dizziness, diarrhea, highest fever in my life… I have never been as sick. Very different from the flue. And it took weeks to feel better. I did not have dry cough or difficult breathing but did have terrible upper respiratory congestion and cough. Not all cases present as typical and on a scale from people having no symptoms I think I had it.
If I don’t get sick again I look forward to an antibody test when things calm down.
After having two weeks of high anxiety and panic attacks I have settled into a good routine with Millie and my housemates. I lived a fairly reclusive life anyway and already bought everything online including fresh food delivery.
Two immediate reactions were that i was too nervous to draw. Started up yesterday. And too tense to eat. I’ve lost five pounds! Need to lose tons more. So one benefit.
When I get too nervous I use some fantasy. I imagine I’m in my upstate artist cabin far away from everything. Or I’m at a weight loss spa eating simple food and exercising. If none of those work I convince myself that I’m living the simple contemplative lifestyle I always wished for.
At my calmest moment I realized that lying with Millie dog against me in bed is everything I want. If the dog is ok I’m ok. And I’m blessed I live with my best friend.
Sounds weird to say but I hope you did have it, and you’re immune now, and won’t have any lasting problems. This thing is so scary and the range of illness is crazy.
I agree. But taking no chances.
Faye, you can donate your plasma to science! When you get your results that is…it could be important! 😁
And so glad you got through this (mostly) unscathed. Glad you are feeling better.
Yes. I am very curious to verify my theory that the virus was in NY area before they thought. I’ve been doing close research for information on atypical symptoms and I had what they describe.
Wouldn’t surprise me, given the number of international flights that go into NY (and Newark), and imports coming into NY and north Jersey ports. It’s interesting to look at the NJ coronavirus map. The further south and west you go from NY, the fewer cases there are. The biggest clusters go from Bergen County and down the coast, where there are a lot of commuters. The smallest number is way down south in Salem County every time I’ve checked.
Yes! Long Island is the same. The cases follow the railroad lines. Closer to NYC the higher the cases.
And the buses. More people from my area would take the bus, probably. (The two closest train stations are approximately 25 and 35 minutes away.) Since my old Starbucks closed, I have to go a little ways up Route 9 if I want to go before work (which I only do occasionally, since it’s slightly out of my way), and I pass several bus stops. Most of those buses are probably heading to the city.
It is good to hear from you, Faye! I am so sorry you were sick, and glad that you appear to be securely on the mend now. And I’m extra glad that you have Millie with you, and support from your best friend.
Thank you. I’m very very lucky to not be alone through this. Her 12 year old daughter has been helping me too. We’re all together 24/7.
This is, I guess, actually good news? You’ve recovered and maybe now you’re immune. Nothing could be better than that.
Dubravkamcvmd I can’t be sure. I hope I find out from a test. Not from getting sick again because it wasn’t Covid.
Hello, folks! I’ve been reading all the comments and I’m pleased to see all the positive thinking and useful advice being shared. The discussion about groceries is of interest because I’ll have to shop next week, possibly using home delivery. The supply of lettuce and cilantro that I feed Ani (and me when there’s enough) will run out today so she’ll have to do without briefly. She’s got plenty of hay, of course.
Ani and Teddy and I are all well. I trimmed Teddy’s nails for the first time today, because he loves to attack my hand by grabbing it with his paws and then alternately biting and licking it. It’s fun for him and I’m happy to indulge it, but I’ll have to keep his nails trimmed or he’ll claw my hand to tatters.
Ouch, the nails! usually one of my sons trims Cipi’s nails (no chance with MiMi) but now it’s up to me, and I’m quite clumsy. The result is that I’m scratched here and there because she uses me as a ladder when she wants to climb somewhere-or simply jumps on my shoulder from the floor.
No matter, a smile be worth a scratch
So good to hear from you directly, Mike! Glad you and Ani and Teddy are all well. Thank you a gazillion times for Cutetropolis!
I am not looking forward to having to trim Bibi’s nails. I used to trim Mookie’s and Mazzilli’s, but I’d trained them to accept it from when they were kittens of only a few months old. I never did Ricky’s myself. I don’t even own clippers. Eep!
Happy to hear you and the four legged ones are doing well. Thank you, thank you soooo much for my little island of sanity and community during this whole situation. Makes me feel not so alone and that we’ll all get thru this.
Quick laugh.
I put a raspberry in Duckie’s food dish. I got a stink eye combined with a WTF look, and then she very carefully minced over to the dish, picked up the berry with the tip of her beak, and threw it on the cage floor.
Now she’s crouched on her perch like a vulture, glaring at me.
Hey, I’ll take her raspberries if she doesn’t want ’em!
😂😂😂😂😂
I had a foster dog that felt that way about ice cubes. If you put an ice cube in front of him, he would freak out!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

So, I finally broke down and cut my own hair.
I watched a couple YouTube videos and they made it look pretty easy.
The reality was a little different.
I can’t wait to have a good laugh about this with my stylist when she can fix this for me. 😂
You’re so much braver than me. I need a trim but I decided that this is as good a time as any to grow my hair out and decide if I like it longer. This resolve may only last a week or so until I get the weird odd pieces sticking out (which drive me batty) and I start thinking … hmm, hair cutting, how hard can it be?? A little trimmed here, a little off there, ummm, hey honey can you grab me my baseball hat.
Me too AJ. I’m letting mine grow and planning to buy cute clips.
I wear my hair in a ponytail about 90% of the time so mistakes aren’t terribly obvious. It definitely looked uneven after my 3rd attempt.
I just couldn’t handle how long it was – it was more than halfway down my back. 🙁
My hair used to be to my hip. Sometimes I wonder how I lived like that. 😛
Yesterday I tried the “part your hair in the middle, tie it under your chin with a rubber band and chop off the required amount” method. The result wasn’t exactly professional but as I never wear my hair loose it’s good enough for me.
That’s very close to the technique I tried.
Eventually, I got it to a point where it’s not super obvious I cut it myself (I think). But, when my stylist eventually gets to cut it, she will say “What the fork happened back here, Julie?!?!”
