Links: Inspector Ook Saves the Day!

Orangutans meet otters, dolphins meet sloth, Robert Irwin meets tortoise, and more.

And finally: Pas de Meux

Nice find by Thérèse B.

The pas de deux—um, pas de chat is the perfect start to my day! I’m teaching my first group class online later this morning. I am inspired by the genuineness of this teacher (and her friend).

good luck with your online class, Bibi’s mom! let us know how it goes!

    • tara April 7, 2020 / 9:23 am

ditto what N. Fritz said! What are you teaching?

Ways to analyze accents & dialects. It’s aimed at actors, but I have a “civilian” in the class, too. Online I’m used to working one-to-one, but I wanted to keep it affordable for a client base who, like me, have mostly had their income source, even the chance of an income source, dry up owing to “shelter at home” conditions. So I made it a group class for short-burst sessions at low rates—they don’t go broke, and I can break even or a tiny bit better.

Fantastic planning, R&BMOM. I’m sure it will go really well.

oh wow – that sounds fascinating!

Today’s report is: Mixed Success. I had some trouble with screen-sharing and I goofed up royally for one client (she forgave me). And I’m not sure everyone was expecting the way I’m approaching the work. There’s a pretty wide spread of previous training and experience among the participants, few though they are.

I will say that participants were patient with hiccups during the class. I hope to learn from my mistakes and keep improving as we move forward.

But the proof of the pudding is in the eating. We’ll see how many come back next week. I’m very hard on myself, so I’m pretty anxious about it. I don’t want to feel I’ve failed my students.

Also wonderful way to start the day, Jacinda Ardern declared the tooth fairy and the easter bunny to be essential workers! ❤️❤️❤️

    • allein 🐾 April 7, 2020 / 9:37 am

I saw that! She also said that the Easter Bunny might not get to everyone with everything going on, which I thought was great. There are bound to be some parents who won’t be able to get baskets together. Maybe the Bunny can get to them later.

She also posted an Easter egg coloring page for kids to color and post in windows to create an Easter Egg hunt. 🙂

oooh, thanks for the link. And I completely agree, that was the most brilliant part about her statement, realizing how to be inclusive of everyone. If only….

I love all the animal field trips we’re getting to see.

    This comment made me laugh:

Glorious collection of links! Love the orangs and otters. Who wouldn’t lose their minds upon seeing a sloth? (I can still cry with laughter over Kristen Bell’s famous sloth video.) But dancing kitty takes the cake. I’m firmly convinced that my cat Sevi will someday kill me by tripping me on the basement stairs; at least I’m not a dancer!

    • Dulcie April 7, 2020 / 10:32 am

I figure that dancer has a better chance of taking a graceful fall, or none at all, than I would when tripping over a cat!! Or my own two feet if truth be told…

      • debg April 7, 2020 / 10:33 am

Seriously, I can trip on the air.

      • AJ April 7, 2020 / 3:13 pm

I think I have everyone beat, I’ve been known to trip UP the stairs. My nickname in the family is Queen of the Klutzes.

I have fallen off my shoes. Flats.

        Thanks, N. Fritz!

I may need to add this to my collection with the Ted Cruz and Glenn/Henry coloring books!

Masks are all fine and good but what about the physical distancing rules they’re not adhering to??

        • Ricky & Bibi's Mom April 7, 2020 / 3:33 pm

          Umm … chocolate fixes everything?
