Bunday Buddies

We have a special treat this Bunday as reader Murray C. shares this video of Clementine and Fergus. Even though the news about Clementine is a bit sad, she still knows how to be adorable by climbing over Fergus to get to her food. Murray C. explains:

My poor little Clemmie, she’s on her last legs, but she still loves her grub. And Fergus is very patient with her. She’s is blind and deaf and her back right leg is going on her but she’s a plucky little gal, but I’m afraid her time isn’t long. she will let me know, I feel sure.

Oh Murray, I feel for you. My heart goes out to older buns. First off, adorable bunnehs, want to snuggle with both of them. My Pepper is 13 yrs & 7 months old and she’s blind and incontinent. Otherwise she still eats well, knows her daily routines, gets around her smaller running area and has been to the vet. I’m sure you’re like me in knowing their days are numbered but we still love them dearly, become teary watching them trying to get around and will sadly know when it comes that time, if nature doesn’t intervene first. Good to know Fergus is understanding and patient. Sorry such a downer but I still have a big smile and a heart full of love for bunnehs.

Awww. Fergus supports Clementine literally. Our older pets get old because they have been well loved and well cared for in the first place.

This sweet but funny too. And Fergus is so patient (or is it resigned? Can’t tell from his expression.) with darling Clemmie. It’s always hard to think about letting them go but they will let you know when they’re ready.

I thought he looked sort of resigned to this behavior, like, this is what I’ve got to do for my buddy!

Murray, I’ve had 2 buns who lived to 12 yrs, and one who almost made it to 13, who had lots of difficulties in his last year, but he was such a good and patient bun. Give kisses to your buns for me, a double kiss for Clementine!💋

Hugs to you, Murray C. Fergus and Clemmie look very sweet. Saying goodbye is always painful, but the time has not come just yet. Try not to mourn in advance (easier said than done, but so important). Enjoy your sweet Clemmie while she is here; it’s so lovely to see how Fergus does!

Love Fergus’s patient expression. Clemmie is very determined! They’re both lovely.

Murray C, we miss you so much.

Hello, I need to share some sad news from Murray C.:

We had to put our dear little bun Clementine down n Tuesday evening and I wanted to let the denizens of Cutetropolis know. As you can imagine, I’m pretty much of a mess and I’m trying to help Fergus transition to being a single bunny – single pet of household at this point, and likely to remain so.

Thanks for all of your sweet and understanding expressions of sympathy, I knew you would be sweet and thoughtful. I tried so hard to think of ways to help my girl but the vet was helpful (she has a 13 year old bun) when she said that Clem’s quality of life was severely diminished if she couldn’t move or clean herself properly or get to her water or food bowl. I did much of that for her but I couldn’t be with her 24/7 and you could see her frustration and fatigue. What made it hard was that she wasn’t sick per se, but suffering from infrastructure breakdown. Fergus is eating well which is really good, and he seems to get that I’m trying to interact with him and play with him more to give him the stimulation he misses getting from his mate. But, of course, my heart is still broken.
