As we head into summer during these strange times, many annual traditions have had to be canceled. However, one endures: Maru and Hana’s annual bath and shampoo. The act of washing affords us a moment to contemplate their contrasting personalities: Maru submits passively…
While Hana has, shall we say, opinions.
But both of them can agree that after a bath, the best way to dry off is to bask the sunlight of a perfect summer day.
Good clean fun from sender-inner Andrew Y.
I will have to watch later but I will never not love wet Maru. Or opiniated Hana.

Also >:3 May 24 is Maru’s birthday!
lol…
Hana:[I do not permit a shower!]
Hana:[I do not permit a bubble!]
Um…sorry, Hana; looks like you don’t have a choice.
By Maru’s eyes, he’s clearly thinking what Hana is saying…..I do not permit bubble! LOL. 😻
In the decades that I have had cats not one ever got a bath.
Same here. Unless there’s a skin condition that requires it or they refuse to clean themselves, I don’t see the point of doing it to indoor cats.
They know how to clean themselves. Their own spit is the best cleaner to maintain their body oils, protective bacteria, etc. I don’t think you can reproduce that in a human-made shampoo, no matter how gentle.
Me too. Thirteen plus indoor and outdoor cats over 64 years. One bath due to car oil.
i agree. The only time a kitty of mine got a bath was after a bout of diarrhea. (kitty’s) That
was a battle and not at all nice.
Oh Phredsmom 🤣🤣🤣 “Kitty’s” 🤣🤣🤣!!
Hahahahaha.
Watching their baths is soothing and contemplative.
It’s official Maru is a pair of eyes stuck on a ball of fluff. And he seems so resigned to the whole ordeal, seems to be thinking ok what’s next, is this over yet. If Hana could talk – I object to this assault on my dignity.
In notes on one of the bath posts, mugumogu says:
“As Hana had dandruff and Maru had a lot of falling furs, I shampooed them. The frequency of the shampoo is 1-2 times in a year. ”
Flea baths and explosive vomiting and diarrhea events are the only reasons I’ve ever shampooed a cat. Fortunately fleas have not been a significant issue now for many years, since kittens are indoors only.
Cat bathing is very hard on human skin!
