Want to travel but short on cash? Many pricey ski resorts offer big discounts during the off-season, but there’s a catch.
Resorts often operate with minimal staff during slack periods, which means guests sometimes need to make do for themselves.
So if you can put up with minor inconveniences, you can vacation for less.

That looks relaxing…
It’s kind of tropical-storming here, today. Not much good for vacationing.
Raining pretty thoroughly here. And we’re actually on tornado watch, which is fairly unusual for NYC. I think I’ll skip the outdoor hot-tub (as if I had one—ha) for now!
We had a tornado watch, too, apparently. My power went out at 12:30 and just came back on at 4:45, about 15 minutes ago.
And now the sun is shining …
I’m glad your power is back on!
After my laptop battery got low I put it to sleep and then set the alarm on my tablet for 20 minutes, turned on the light switch in my room, and took a nap. When the alarm went off and the lights were still out, I set it for another 20 minutes and went back to sleep. Did that about 4 times, then decided to get up and the power came on a few minutes later.
My parents are ten minutes away and might not have power until after midnight.
I think he needs to paw a $50 to the Concierge!
So not bear’s first visit to the resort?
We actually had a tornado warning here in the Philly area, told to seek shelter first thing this am. I ended up in the bathroom with bunny on my lap! Thankfully nothing materialized, but, boy, the wind is howling now! A nice calming outdoor spa would be just the thing right at the moment – but somewhere else..
I’m glad you and bunny are safe.
😘
I’ve had to weather tornado warnings in homes with no basement. It’s a weird bonding experience piling into the hall bathroom with your roommates and their cats.
Glad everyone out East is okay for now. When I lived in FL, I had the routine down pat for hurricane/tornado warnings. Bird and cats were put in crates and then in the hall bathroom tub. Dog was on leash and I had my plastic container of important papers by the door. I was all ready to bug out at anytime. Dog trained herself to the point that if she sensed a storm coming, she’d go hide either in one of the tubs or a closet.
I’m just glad I’m not the homeowner seeing a bear get in my hot tub, I’d be wondering how the heck to get him out! Hope it doesn’t get to be a regular occurrence. Try explaining to your pool cleaner why you need him out TODAY.
This is fantastic. Bear obviously knows what he’s about!
Stay safe, peeps. It would be horrible for you to wash away in a storm.
