Most consumers are familiar with the methods used to test everyday fruits and vegetables; for example, squeezing tomatoes to determine ripeness, or knocking on a watermelon to see if it knocks back. However, exotic fruits such as the kiwi may be harder to judge. Can you spot the overripe kiwi in this group?
Yes, it is the middle one. While a small amount of fuzz indicates a healthy kiwi, too much fuzz indicates that the kiwi has hamsterized and must be kept as a pet.
I’m off to buy some kiwis, Andrew Y. (via Twitter)
I’ve never been a fan of kiwi but I’ve never seen one this cute.
Although I was told never to eat fruit covered in white fuzz…
Okay, was ded from the void kitteh, but revived for this post ONLY to be DED again!!😵
Aaaaaaaaaaand, Allein comes in with the kill. Ded.
Also, “hamsterized” is now my favorite word.
Un-hamsterized Kiwi …

I have a question: Do Kiwi chicks ever hatch more than once?
Arrrrgh, as a former English and Communications major, headlines like that drive me bonkers. IF done properly it should read “Franklin Park Zoo for the first time hatches a Kiwi chick”. And all these Kiwis, white, orange, and long-beaked are just adorable!!!!
“First Kiwi to hatch at Franklin Park Zoo,” perhaps?
I’ll have to look in the grocery store produce section, for an over ripe kiwi. As Allin mentioned, one doesn’t want produce covered in white fuzz, but this is an exception.
Aj, you must go bonkers, a lot, reading headlines and stories online. So many articles online, have poor grammar, spelling errors and lack of punctuation.
I go bonkers too. And I see what you did there!
How are you doing these days?
A little bit better, thanks for asking. It’s still hard for me to go in the room where Pepper and Leo had their pens. That’s a spare bedroom and where the computer is set up. Certain things trigger tears. Yesterday I was in the produce section of the store and saw the fresh parsley , that I was so used to buying and it brought tears to my eyes.
When I lost my most precious and funny rabbit unexpectedly at age 7, I was devastated. I couldn’t clean up his cage/play area for 6 months. I cried slightly every night for 6 months. I totally understand and send hugs.
It helps me to know that you grieved for awhile. I’ll admit, I still cry 2 or more times throughout the day. I had to clean up their areas , it would have been more devastating to leave it all up, but I set up what I call a memorial. I condensed each area with their bedding, favorite toy(s) ,water and food bowls and chewing tunnel.
And with the extra stress and chaos of 2020, my bunnies were a huge source of joy and de-stressing for me and they’re gone. My husband is great but my fur babies offered a different type of support. You fellow peeps know what I mean.
I lost my Ursula-kitty in July 2019 and still weep for her at times. The other day, as I was doing kitty roll call, I added her name without thinking. We never stop loving them, which is what’s so great and so awful at the same time.
Ricky’s bowl was still in its place for seven months, till shortly after I adopted Bibi and got her her own bowls. I am glad you are doing a bit better overall, Luv Bunny. Grief has its own schedule, and its different for each person, and for each loss.
Puppy kisses from Bibi!
Oh, and I had a memorial, too. Still do. I was able over time to let a lot of Ricky’s things go to the rescue organization that I adopted him and Bibi from, but I still have some things packed away.
Is “hamsterized” similar to “sanforized”?
Kind of. Also like Simonized, only with more ham.
