Welcome to the chat room, Cutetropolitans! Be sure to hang up your coat, because today’s visitor, Teller, likes to claim things left on the floor, like Muppet2171’s towel.

That’s right Teller it’s just like the old saying says, finders keepers, losers drippers.

Always a pleasure to see the lovely Teller.
Good morning Teller and all, such beautiful coloring on kitty. He can come sit on my pile of clothes anytime. Not too much excitement over here. Hubby is in the LA area for a work trip so me and the roomie might take a road trip to see him today. Then just the usual – errands, and cleaning. We had rain and winds last week so all the debris from outside ended up inside.
He pulled it out of the laundry himself. Brat. ๐
Very enterprising. Do you think he might be open to pitching in around the house? Iโm guessing – Nah.
Pretty much, yeah. He just looks at me funny when I ask him to pitch in.
Such a cute and clever kitty. Give Teller a cuddle for me.
We feel your pain, Muppet.
He chose colors that show off his beautiful coat, at least.
Isnโt that sort of a catโs purpose in lifeโto claim everything as theirs? Whether on the floor or not?๐
Good morning! I brought cake.
oooh yum!!! Thanks Allein I brought my fork ๐ด. Itโs almost too nice to eat but if the cake is chocolate than I have no problem digging in.
Morning, everyone. And a good morning to you, Teller. You look exquisitely catlike today.
Crazy week in Duckieville. Little Duckie had runny poops so bad I thought we were going to lose her, but she rallied. Cataracts, slipped ribs, income taxes, changed COVID vaccine plans, weather. And we heard that our employment standards case has been assigned a case worker! No wonder Iโm so tired! I could easily join Teller on the floor for a nap.
Have a great weekend, all.
Ooh Duckie what a tough week. Rest and pamper yourself!
Yes, Teller has that quintessential cat expression “mine now what are you gonna do about it” ๐
That does sound like a very full week. Sorry to hear about little Duckie. Pets and children make us face the reality that Life is Poop. I hope the slipped ribs aren’t too painful. Best of luck for a better week ahead!
Happy Caturday, everyone! And a special hello to “bratty” Teller!
Made it through the week, which is a big achievement. The project I was most worried about went smoothly; the project I was confident about fell apart. My video had audio problems, and people complained really loudly about something they were getting for free.
Hopefully this week’s video will go better: I learned a few tricks about audio cleanup and my boss is already pleased. There’s no such thing as a perfectly quiet environment for recording in my basement. Every monster truck in town had to drive down my street while I was trying to record!
Hope everybody can relax and enjoy the weekend. It’s beautiful in Colorado today. The cats have fresh litter, trimmed claws, and a functional fountain again. I’ll put together my new drum carder motor and play with fiber. Heaven.
โโฆ people complained really loudly about something they were getting for freeโโ these are not people whose opinions count.
You made it through the week, AND your boss is pleased. Congratulations!
If you have a fairly full clothes closet that you can squeeze into with your gear, that is almost certainly a better environment for recording audio than a basement, unless your basement is sound-proofed, which apparently it isnโt. If you canโt afford โrealโ sound proofing, or will not need it enough to justify the cost, just do your best with blankets and big fluffy garments, stuff like that.
Thanks for the support, R&B’s Mom!
The basement is finished but not set up for recording, and it’s where my home office lives. Unfortunately, it’s the only viable place for recording to the work computer. At least this time, I didn’t have to wait for Scorpius to stop crunching his dry food! That has happened during previous sessions.

You’re gonna make it after aaall ๐ต
(Throws tam in the air…)
Do you have to record audio directly to the computer? Can you not record it to a phone or tablet and then edit it on computer? (Or even edit it on phone or tablet and then transfer it to computer?)
Or โฆ
Can you surround your computer desk with a screen and drape it with sound-absorbing material? Or attach egg-crate foam to a screen and surround your desk area?
These are all good ideas–I’ll discuss with my boss. I do have a sound box and recorded with the mike in the box, sitting on the floor, so the chair wouldn’t squeak if I moved.
Teller is beautiful.
This week has been simply terrible. The company I work for decided to put an end to WFH, so I had to move back to the office on Monday. The timing was excellent : month’s closing and opening weeks are the worst for us and I had to work on a pricing project on top of my usual every day work. So I had to move back at Monday dawn with tons of folders etc.
On Monday it has become obvious that Hungary has its worst Covid data ever, an awful lot of new cases and lots of death. People were so curious why we came back to the office, they kept appearing next to my desk, hoping for some small talk… On Tuesday my car broke down and generally everything went in the worst possible way.
On Thursday the management realised it wasn’t a great idea to call us back, so we were sent home again, so moving the most important things back to home office, quite a workout ๐
Then the Hungarian government announced more serious lockdowns of course in an ambiguous way, so everyone and their cousin called me, because they think I always know everything. My new company mobile gave in after 723 unanswered calls, so finally there was silence.
Oh no! A lot of work shot through with idiocy, danger, and fear! Glad your company was ultimately able to grasp reality.
I can’t put it better than this ^.
Nor can I. Ems, adding my sympathy for your horrible week–it was WAYYYYY worse than my headaches. At least I was safe from infection through all the cray-cray.
Take care of yourself through all this.
I think the government recommendations helped them ๐

I’m in the office three days a week; it’s rare that anyone comes into my cubicle but god I want to scream when they do.
I have a meeting with a coworker on Monday and she said we could do it in her office if I’m comfortable with that or on the phone and I haven’t decided yet which.
I even scream at them sometimes, hoping to drive them away for good. But my strategy clearly isn’t working, the more I want to push coworkers away, the more they want to get closer. ๐
They’re like cats who find the only allergic person in the room!
When I moved away from my parents to start my adult life in 2007, I started a new habit: I evaluate every day with a number on a scale of 1-10. 2007-2013 had mostly 7-8s, 2014-2017 had mostly 5-6s, 2018-2019 had mostly 6-7s, 2020 had mostly 3-4s, 2021 has been a strong 2/10 so far, not sure what to expect for the rest of the year seeing the tendency, let alone 2022 and onward ๐
Oh Ems what a wretched week.
And nothing that is under your control.
It might be a good time for closing your eyes and repeating the mantra “this too shall pass”.
Hugs
I really hope there will be better days as well. Thanks, Dulcie.
There will be. Though it’s hard to see them right now, when you’re in the thick of days at 2.
Ems, you have my wholehearted sympathy. But I wonder whether you might benefit from re-evaluating your scale. In a year of deadly plague, isn’t any day you are still alive at least 5/10? Maybe youโd feel better looking at more fives?
Just an idea. Please ignore it if you see no possibilities in it.
What the 2/10 means is that I have been so stressed (Marci’s illness, job, sibling drama etc) lately that I haven’t had a good night’s sleep this year yet and I completely lost my appetite. I just eat enough to stay alive and sleep somewhere between 1 and 3 hours/night. I would badly need to put on weight, but I cannot. So yes, you are right I haven’t really considered how much worse it would have been/will be with Covid. Honestly I cannot delude myself into this situation being a 5. Still I appreciate your support and sympathy.
During the pandemic my ability to sleep has deteriorated significantly. Three hours a night is common, maybe once a week I sleep seven, so I get that part of what you’re going through. Getting the occasional seven hours allows me to see how awful three hours really is. For what it’s worth, I can see that lack of sleep by itself is strongly emotionally debilitating. You have my sympathy.
Oh then sleep deprivation has been around for you quite some time, the pandemic didn’t start yesterday ๐
I’ve got an exciting week to look forward to. On Wednesday I’m getting my first Covid jab – the second one is in May – and on Thursday I’m due for a Botox injection into an eye muscle to correct double vision (not as awful as it sounds). Not to be outdone, in the following week Dad will be having his second Covid jab and an eye exam. We’re certainly getting our money’s worth from the NHS!
Alice – trying out for a role as a pincushion? ๐
Here’s a recent photo of The Bedbug in her second home under my bed. She climbs up onto one of several storage boxes and treats the box spring like her own private warren.
She enjoys staying there in the afternoons so much that I sometimes bring her lunch to her there.
You’re a good dad, Mike.
She’s got a good life with you Mike
