Yay, it’s Caturday! And depending on your weather, you might be able to relax outside with a hot cup of coffee and a good friend. Here’s a thread to talk about whatever you want.

Happy Caturday! I might kill the guy downstairs today.
What is your downstairs neighbor doing? My next-door neighbor is my problem, although he has piped down since I made clear through banging on the wall that I could hear him. What I believe he was doing is playing some sort of video games in the middle of the night, and expressing his excitement/joy by yelping. (I do not believe he was expressing his feelings during sexual activity. There is nothing in it for me to believe that those sounds had to do with sex.)
Loud music. Which he knows damn well is too loud.
We should not have to wear headphones in our own homes because the neighbors are too loud. I’m firmly committed to this belief.
I agree! 😠
I had this problem in college AND in my first and second apartments! It was insane, and no one in charge cared a flying fig! I don’t pay rent for loud, unwanted noise. I don’t know why the loud people come out of this with the better deal. Persons in charge just shrug it off, or “try” to ascertain how loud it could be by telling the people that they’re going to visit to “check”. Then the loud person plays their music softer than they have ever done, and person in charge just shrugs their shoulders!
EVERYone deserves quiet when they need it! There should be an enforceable LAW!😤
Sorry. OFF soapbox now. I’d forgotten how much this plagued my life for more than a decade. sigh
Agreed. If he wants to go deaf, he can wear headphones himself. He can blow his eardrums out for all I care; just leave me out of it.
Never mind the people who feel the need to share their car’s bass with everyone in a five mile radius. Or the guy who starts his roaring muscle car and leaves it running for 10-15 minutes on a near-daily basis. (I wonder how much money he wastes on all the gas he’s just burning in the parking lot for no reason than he probably thinks he looks cool [Newsflash: he doesn’t].)
(That said, I am wearing headphones at the moment, but that’s just so I can listen to podcasts on my ipod instead of moving my computer around the house with me.)
Well Dubra you just never know what kind of noises people will make during sex. 😜 😁
They could be role playing as video gamers.
Again, there is nothing in it for me to believe the noise has to do with sex. If I believed that I would not have been able to bang on the wall, thinking that they were entitled to their joy.
I’m sure you are right. I was just kidding.
This is so cat!
I was able to be outside with my morning beverage the last few days with our gorgeous weather but today is foggy. Kitty is beautiful, wouldn’t mind him/her joining me to lounge in a sunbeam. The two here are enjoying the nice weather as well. They’re out from dawn to when we shoo them inside for bed. Pebbles the tabby is particularly vocal when we try to get her inside during the day, usually when we’re going out and need to lock the door. So I’ll just purrito her in her bed and bring both inside.
Quiet weekend this weekend. Hubby is on the East coast for work, roomie got his 2nd jab yesterday and isn’t feeling the best so he’s going relax & recuperate, and I’m heading out in a little bit for the farmers market. Might run a few other errands. At some point, I just have to buckle down and do taxes. Been putting it off as we’ll probably have to pay, ugh. Hopefully it’s warm and sunny in everyone’s neck of the woods this weekend. For those that celebrate … Happy and Joyful Easter!
We are still under restrictions here and since my husband and I haven’t had our vaccine yet, he’ll get his on the 12th of April, I’m not 65 so I have to wait longer, so no get together with family for Easter
Yesterday I went to the store to buy supplies because my plans for the weekend was to do some Spring cleaning since the weather is getting back to being Spring like after a brief setback of snow last week but of course I didn’t take into account Murphy’s Law.
As I was loading the bags into the back of the car one of my finger locked and stayed that way. I have Trigger Finger on 2 fingers on each hand, I’ve had injections of steroid for it but I haven’t gone since Covid started and having a finger locked permanently is what happens when the condition gets bad enough. I immediately called my orthopaedist’s office but he won’t be there until Tuesday, the receptionist told me to call Tuesday morning and talk to his secretary and maybe she can give me an emergency appointment. I hope so because it is painful and also very annoying because I can’t properly use my hand.
Do trigger-finger splints help at all? I have what seems like a much milder case, in my next-to-pinkie finger on my right hand (I’m right-handed). I gave up on steroid shots after my first one. Too painful, and in my case not especially helpful anyway (everyone’s different, I know).
I never tried acupuncture or acupressure for it; wearing a splint for a few days does the trick for me so far. But I wonder if either form of therapy would help. Have you looked into it?
For mild cases stretching exercise help and wearing splits at night, I don’t know about acupuncture or acupressure.
I’ve had many steroid shots and yes they are painful but they help for a good while, about a year for me, I’m diabetic so I’m prone to Trigger finger.
I don’t remember how many shots I’ve had for this particular finger, if only 2 then it’ll be another shot if 3 then it’s going to be the operation.
Good luck!
I had the surgery for a trigger thumb years ago, and it brought complete relief (after steroids did nothing). Took place in the doctor’s office, local anesthesia, no big deal, and totally worth it.
Happy Caturday! And for those celebrating, happy Easter weekend.
Sounds like some of you are having a rough time. Noisy neighbors drive me nuts, and locked fingers sound hellish. Georgiana, I hope you can get treatment before Tuesday–that’s just not acceptable.
We’re looking at temps of 81F today. In early April. I’m already worried about summer heat! So if this beautiful ginger will come sit by me, we can relax outside while it’s still cool.
I’m pretty much recovered from my Dolly shot and will even try a walking workout this afternoon. After two days of missing, my hip is saying “Get on your feet, girl!” And I’m eagerly awaiting delivery of my new e-spinner! USPS tracking says it’s out for delivery. Of course, tracking info has lost my confidence lately: I mailed a box of cookies to a friend maybe 15 miles away on Monday; tracking currently says it’s in West Virginia. Next time, I’ll just drive over and put the box on her porch.
To distract myself until the e-spinner comes, I’ll start researching my new wheel and planning my first big Baby Wolf project. Weaving projects can take a lot of math, so I can set up a spreadsheet for the calculations. This is a weird way to spend the weekend and it’s weird that I’m so excited about it, right?
Georgiana I feel for you with the locked finger. I’m not experiencing anything near as dire but I am starting to feel some stiffness in the finger joints. I have noticed the difference from last winter with some of my finer hand crafts. I am just over 60 and didn’t expect to see this quite so soon wah!! 😫
I hear you, I’m 63! We’re too young to be old! 🤣😂
It’s official. I have been shot. And I survived.
The shot itself didn’t hurt, but my arm muscle is outraged right now. I’m settling down with a cup of tea for the afternoon. I’d love to have this kitty by my side.
I hear alternating ice with heat (20 mins each, is my guess, based on my own sprain history) can make a big difference in shortening the period of soreness. May be worth a shot—oops, a try.
What kind of shot is everyone getting? By that I mean Pfizer, Moderna, Astra Zenica?
Pfizer was the only choice through the state when I signed up.
Pfizer. Doctor, specialist AND pharmacist all told me to refuse the AstraZenica.
I am trying to avoid AZ too if I can. I believe I am scheduled for either Pfizer or Moderna.
Although one of the WHO officials stated that 18 million
(or higher?) people have been given that Vax and only (?) 30 had a negative reaction.
I got the Pfizer, which is the only one available in my area.
Moderna here. Work in a hospital plus 65 plus caregiver for fragile person so was able to get pretty early on.
I haven’t gotten it yet, by my county’s website says they have Moderna (which is what my parents got; my cousin’s wife down in south Jersey also got Moderna).
I’ve had my first Moderna jab. Second due in about a week. I have some family and friends who got Pfizer, and others who got Moderna. One who got Johnson & Johnson. Most have had only minor reactions, even to the second shot, although I do have one elderly acquaintance who was pretty knocked out for several days.
I’d totally forgotten about J and J.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing that here though. At least for now.
I got the Dolly shot, Moderna. Thanks, Dolly!
The only dolly shot I know of is a filmmaking term. Why do you call it a Dolly shot?
Dolly Parton donated a large sum of money to help vaccine research. Yet another reason to love her.
Exactly. And she was pretty quiet about it.
I’m getting my second Pfizer shot this afternoon. Yay! I don’t know if I mentioned it on this site but I had the virus. I found out in January when I went to see my internist about something else. Blood was drawn and, turned out, I had the antibodies (I guess checking for antibodies is standard practice now?). I was asymptomatic so I have no idea when I had it and you can’t tell from the number of antibodies. My doctor said most people who get the virus are asymptomatic. I was amazed since I have been religious about mask-wearing and going nowhere.
I’m in Austria and I’ve had Astra Zeneca. I didn’t have any problems with the first shot except for a very sore arm. My boyfriend had chills/fever for a few hours. Hoping that the second shot goes as smoothly at the end of May!
I wanted to share a couple of pictures from Miss Vera’s first visit outside this weekend. She seemed calm and interested, sniffing and nibbling leaves, standing on her back legs for a better look. She didn’t seem too bothered by the cage, either.
Oh wow how exciting Mike. Baby steps! Or maybe that should be baby hops! I hope she will continue to enjoy the outdoors.
That’s terrific. It’s great that you can enrich her life
