“And this picture is from our trip to Istanbul last year. We ate at this lovely little place right by the harbor where a nice couple shared their table scraps with us. Everyone is so friendly there, we really must go back sometime.”

I would gladly sit through their entire slide show.
.
I’ve seen articles about how cats who live on the streets are really well-treated in Istanbul, so this story could really be true!
The location really is Istanbul (not Constantinople). Someone in the Reddit discussion of this picture confirmed it.
I think you mean Catstantinople
Hm, I thought Constantinople, Byzantium and Istanbul were the same location only different names at the different ages.
History has never been my strongest subject, so I’ll ask my friend Google 🙂
This was great! Thanks, Allein!
I would gladly share bits of my diner with these two!
A staple of my childhood – friends of my parents would come over for dinner or we go there and afterward out comes the screen and machine. My dad was (in)famous for his home movies. Growing up I really don’t remember him without his 8 mm movie camera and later a video camera in hand. We have everything from bringing home baby from the hospital (me!), learning to walk (me again!) and being “helped” by my older by 5 years brother, to vacation videos highlighting everywhere and anywhere in the US and later when they went to Europe.
After all that digression, the cats are gorgeous and I’d be dropping tidbits for them. I think it’s a Southern Mediterranean thing because I can remember visiting Greece and they were cats everywhere. My vacation album had lots of photos of street kitties, lounging literally anywhere – the street, a chair, under a table, in a planter.
