I want to talk about how wonderful Mike is. No, I mean truly wonderful! Not a day goes by that I don’t swing by CUTETROPOLIS and read, laugh and smile and such wonderful content. I can’t thank you enough for continuing to bring smiles my way daily.
Hear! Hear!
I second that emotion.
Love that song!
I completely agree about the wonderfulness of Mike. And the cuddleability of those kittens.
In other news, it has not been a good week for the Shortcakery’s back yard. On Thursday morning I took advantage of a break in the wet weather to do a load of washing and hung it out as usual. About half an hour later there was an anguished cry from downstairs – “All your washing is on the floor!” Yes, the washing line – which for all I know could have been there for years before we moved here in 2016 – had snapped and dumped everything on the (reasonably clean) concrete. The following day, whilst putting up an industrial-strength new line, I wrapped one end round the two prongs at the top of the old metal clothes-post…and one of the prongs broke off, causing me to nearly fall off the ladder. I grabbed hold of the wooden gate and a chunk of it came off in my hand – yes, it was rotten and held together by layers of paint! By this time I was feeling a bit nervous about tying the other end of the line to the metal hook on the back wall of the house, which had clearly been there since Edward VII was on the throne, but mercifully it was as solid as a rock. Just to top things off, that night I noticed that the new outdoor fairy lights no longer worked, but that was probably my fault for expecting decent fairy lights for £7.99.
I see a new back gate and more expensive fairy lights in my future…
So glad you didn’t get hurt!
Good thing you have fast reflexes!
Shortcake – I’m glad you didn’t get hurt but picturing the series of unfortunate incidents in my head gave me a chuckle!
And those two kittles look like they are whispering conspiracies to each other and being amused at the possible outcomes. 😁😸😸
Oh and PS – love Mike and visiting the Cute peeps always!
Alice, I fear heights for some of the reasons you described. So glad you are okay–please take care!
Thirding the wonderfulness of Mike. Cutetropolis is a mood brightener, a sanity saver, and an all-round lovely place to be.
I would rather just cuddle with them than talk about cuddling.
If I take a crowbar to my neighbor’s motorcycle, will you all visit me in jail? Will you smuggle in kittens? (I do not actually own a crowbar, just for the record.)
Some more olympic content:
They didn’t have a crowbar. Have a Mocha Delight!
I’ll totally visit you in jail and will even sneak in a new crowbar. Presumably they’ll confiscate the first one. But no jury in the world should convict you. I too have a motorcycle neighbor and it’s not much fun.
My cats would be gold medalists in all those events.
They also have a Dodge Charger that they just left running for at least 15 minutes under my window before finally leaving.
Under the window you say? Hmm. Many things can fall from a window. Accidentally. Or say you are re-enacting life in medieval times and for the sake of authenticity you must dump your waste bucket onto the street…
Heh, I’d have to throw it pretty far to hit the car, but I like the way you think.
Or you could “store” your crowbar on the window and “accidentally”knock it off while emptying your chamber pot…
lol…it’s not directly under the window; there’s a few yards of grass between the building and the parking lot. But their spot is right next to mine, in front of my living room (and I’m on the second floor). I wonder if it bothers the guy downstairs (when he’s here; I don’t see him around that much).
I can relate. In our old house, we were half a block from a guy whose truck had a Dukes of Hazzard type horn that blasted blasted Dixie!
That’s fun…
Yes 3 cheers for Mike! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
I whatever the number is for Mike. Thank you for being in our lives, and, on some days, BEING our lives.
Today is the first day of rain in I don’t know how many weeks. Not a storm or downpour, just a steady gentle rain that is soaking into the ground and helping with everything. Including breathing.
Hubby’s dad getting assessed next week. I won’t go into detail about his estranged wife’s reaction, but I would like to talk to Allein about your hypothetical crowbar. PS estranged wife NOT hubby’s mom.
I’ve got a mountain of laundry to do today, but I’m going to wait until I’m good and ready to do it. In the meantime, have as good a weekend as you can, everyone.
Wow! Thank you for all the kind words! I’m humbled! By way of thanks, I’m going to share a photo of Teddy. Unfortunately, he looks very bored, which is not the appropriate reaction to your praise.
By the way, I’m sharing this photo using a service called Pixelfed, which is a noncommercial alternative to Instagram. If you’re looking for a way to display and share photos, you can learn more at https://pixelfed.org
More photos of Teddy, who gets a bit blurry when he plays.
Blurring one’s head while playing is quite avant garde.
Sweet Teddy! How is Vera doing?
Vera is in fine health and feeling relaxed. She recently started going to the bathroom in an inappropriate spot in her room, so I had to shampoo and deodorize that part of the carpet and then block it off. Now she’s using her litter pan again.
Glad to know Vera and Teddy are doing well. It’s been awhile with an update. All of us peeps need our daily dose of Mike’s pics and witticism. I check this site often. I think Teddy’s reaction is normal for a cat. Hope Vera keeps using her litter box.
Oh Mike I’m not sure Teddy is bored…it’s more like resigned. “More compliments for Dad. Sheesh. Sigh.”
We need to celebrate our wonderful Cutetropolis host more, methinks.
Lovely cuddlecats today. They’re inspiring me to take a nap with my brood, very soon. If my dyepots ever heat, that is!
Yes, we all love Mike’s brilliant intellect and we are eternally grateful for the home he provided us with on the Internet.
I also love this community, I have got the best support here when I needed it the most.
Teddy is so cute! So happy to see him.
I had a really bad week, a beloved co-worker passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday and a really nice guy from my neigbourhood on Wednesday.
As for the cat taming project, I have a playdate with the Kitten every evening. Mom cat spends more and more time around me but still keeping distance. At least she is not paralysed by fear any more. I love watching her and the Kitten do synchronised jumps and grooming, they should enter the next Feline Olympics.
Debg, how are you and Josephine? Any advancement with your cat neighbours?
Ems, so very sorry for your losses. Take care of yourself and give yourself space to grieve.
Thanks for asking about Josephine. I’m not sure anything has really changed for her: maybe the hyperthyroid medicine has kicked in and she’s not eating so frantically. The pain in her leg wasn’t affected at all by the meds we tried. So I’m thinking that, unless something improves pretty dramatically, it may be time to let her go when we see the vet in 2 weeks. We’ll do the blood work to see how her kidneys look, but I’m mentally preparing to make that choice before she hits her worst days.
On a brighter note, two of the kittens are willing to eat when I’m only 6 feet away! They wait for me to serve their meals. I will try to get some photos soon. Yesterday, mom brought some of them into my yard for cat lessons–they can still squeeze through the chain link fence, and one has learned to climb it. One came back after the lesson ended to hunt a squirrel in my elm tree. They’re very dear.
I was supposed to go to my friend’s for her daughter’s birthday (which is Monday) today and I completely forgot. 😭 I feel so bad.
I am thankful for both Mike and this community. Have a wonderful weekend y’all.
Ems, so sorry to hear about your recent losses. It is hard enough dealing with one. Having to cope with two is just unfair. Hope you can get through it ok. 💕
Deb G…I know you will make the best choice for Jo as difficult as that is.
